USB is not bad in istself. It's a lot more system dependant than, for example, coaxial. From experience, coaxial always sounds good/better. Not so with USB.
Re the v200 please note this: USB 1.1 Input (48 kHz / 16 Bit)

So USB is bad? :s
Or? I don't get it, really. Teach me! Or something.

"Re the v200 please note this: USB 1.1 Input (48 kHz / 16 Bit)"
What does it mean?

Please check my edit. Can get v200 upgraded with 24/96 USB input.

I never tested this product and really would like to know how much of the v800 it's in there :)

USB usually requiers some kind of digital interface to clean up things signal side and /or allow fully fledged 24/192 rez. This means more money into the rig where just buying a new soundcard with coax output would be cleaner. Of course, for Mac based rigs this is not quite an option... If your music files are Red Book only the resolution is a non issue with v200 stock

There is no bad or good with USB... just decisions and paths to follow. Coaxial seems to me the simplest, most effective and inexpensive solution to sending audio to a DAC. All DACs are not made thesame though and hence so much discussion around these matters, some reclock just nice with the interface others not so quite much. Personally, I've seen measured differencies with, namely jitter, but I cannot hear those differences.

About these Edition 8s, they seem to ring all the right bells here: easy to drive, closed, portable. I'm a bit like Skylab has already posted. It's just that I thought I was over spending big money on gear after all these years :\

V200 is an amp not a dac although u can get it with a cheap dac included.
Soundcards don't compare to a dac and the v800 is a pretty high level dac.
Quick to the point due to cell tapping.

If you aren't driving a more demanding headphone as well, I would think that you could easily get away with a V100 for the Edition 8 as it's a pretty efficient headphone. Has anyone tried that combo?

I don´t find the ED 8 particularly easy to drive. Easy to get volume yes but I wonder if not the marketing helps get the notion that it´s easy to drive well?

Just because it is easy to drive and can be driven even by my Headamp Pico, that doesn't mean it doesn't sound immensely better on the v200.   The same can be said for the v100 to the v200 which is a totally different design from what i understand.  So it all depends on the level you are trying to get to.

Hm, okay. I'm a Macbook Pro user, so I guess that I'll have to go with a DAC?
Though, I don't know another way to get sound out from the computer. I don't own any psychical CD's or something. I have everything digital in the computer, so I need a computer rig. Maybe someone here can help me with that?

I guess that the best way is to go with a DAC and an amp, or am I wrong?

( and sorry for my english at the moment. I'm kinda tired...)

I already got a Nuforce udac 2. Is that enough?

And thanks to all of you, guys. I really appreciate your help!

Yeah I don't know, that's why I asked. A bit of research reveals that the price and power differences between the v100 and v200 are actually pretty minimal. But Violectric's summarized description is tellingly different:

v100: "2-channel headphone amplifier of highest quality. Transistorized amplifier."

v200: "2-channel headphone amplifier of ultimate quality. Sophisticated transistorized amp."

You guys are seriously going OT...

Anyway, I realised that I've been spoiled by the Ed8... TOTALLY can't make myself listen to the rest of my headphones... And the best part? I can let my WIFE hear the difference (and she does!!! Finally!!!). Something that you won't be able to do with that $1000 custom IEM~ :)

Lol... difficult not to... I'm banned from upgrading the rest of my gadgets for the rest of the year :p

She now uses my Ed8 as portable mirrors when we go out >..<

Is amping for the ED8 off-topic?
