Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

You won't have any luck with Logitech (emaill) CS, I've been trying to contact them about replacement UE900s eartips but the representative (someone called Nathali, I got her both times I emailed) flat out insisted that the 900 and 900s are exactly the same even after I have sent her multiple pictures. It's quite clear that Logitech CS reps have no understanding about the UE line at all...
So you got the ue900s but the ue 900 ear tip and the other guy got the ue900s tip and cord and accessories but a ue 900. Is that correct.

Of course, they're both headphones

I'm sure, of course, they are both headphones.  Just saying that first, it's not that fair with one is a 4-balance armature headphone and the other is a single dynamic driver.  I can't say the SQ of the JVC so I can't tell you anything about that.

There are a lot of very good dynamic driver headphones and a lot of bad balanced armature headphones though. Think of them as different types of meat, on average people will prefer beef to chicken, but an expertly-prepared chicken dish would far exceed anything I could do with beef.

Oh, and look up how much that JVC costs.

I prefer pork chop but regardless 4 or 1 driver. Can someone do ue900 vs fx850? Just like other people compate dynamic to planar?

I want to get a new iem, don't know which one yet. (I already have 2 ue900).

um.. it is fair. The JVC is considered one of the best dynamics. That's why Im wondering how the ue900 compares.

just received the 900s today. i haven't had iems in a long time. last pair i had were the ASG-1. bass seems pretty light (more so the extension), maybe my seal is bad but they definitely expose all my crappy quality tracks. compared to my hd650s which seem far more forgiving lol.

going to grab some meelec flanges and see how it feels, not loving these stock tips.

So this is a bit weird. I got my UE 900s yesterday. UE 900s box, accessories, all of that jazz. The IEM's themselves look like the normal UE 900 with the black connector and labeling for the L and R IEM instead of the all blue body that I've seen. Here's where it gets weirder though, they have the gold plated connectors (instead of the sliver ones that the UE 900 had) that the UE 900s are supposed to have on both the IEM's themselves and the cables. It also has the red rubber ring on the cable to differentiate left and right like the UE 900s are supposed to have. So I don't know what is going on, with Logitech and these headphones and the inconsistencies that people are seeing in how they look. I do know they sound great though.
