UD-10 USB Audio Converter

I think they basicly confirmed that the unit is native CD-player standard, so I dont believe it is bit perfect. I do have to say for the price it sounds very good however, bit perfect or not.

Hi, does anyone know if usb the only input for the UD-10? Is there a Coaxial input as well? And is possible to use an oversampling DAC up to 96khz or 192khz with the UD-10 or will it only sample 44.1Khz?

Thanks

finally have some time to answer a few questions

THIS DEVICE IS BITPERFECT.

tested some 44.1kHz DTS and AC3 in WAV that i downloaded from the internet... it passed perfectly onto my receiver which did the decoding (currently have it hooked up with a BJC coaxial cable to my receiver)

shows up as "DS: USB Audio DAC" in foobar (KS doesn't work)

way to operate is plugin USB first, then plugin the external battery pack

unit DOES NOT passthrough AC3/DTS, so movie watchers will have to use something else...

anything else i missed?

i believe there's different pins used for AC3/DTS passthrough (watching movies and PCM output invoke different software pins/filters)

the 44.1kHz DTS WAV is actually incased in a PCM stream, and if left unaltered should playback perfectly using an external decoder, which ultimately means you have bitperfect working

watching movies however, the AC3/DTS is not encased in a PCM stream, it is a Digital Dolby or DTS stream.... there is no trickery involved here as with DTS WAV.... so not every soundcard driver has the capability of passing AC3/DTS

key word? drivers

Hello

I followed this thread with particular attention because I would like improve my pc audio system using pc as a source only to listen music (not to watch movies). In this case I don't care about everything is more that 16 bit and 44,1 khz, because everything is over, talking about music, is about irrelevant.

Then I read the tnt-audio test http://www.tnt-audio.com/sorgenti/tr...io_ud10_e.html and I read that UD-10 is not a simple transporter, but a small DAC transporter.
I read that here is very popular Zhaolu DAC linked to pc with cheap usb to spdif device, or the LITE AH or AM. Somebody had the chance to compare them, or other, with UD-10 in sound, I mean lisitening music, not caring about bit-perfect performances?

Thanks in advance

rob

Thanks ShadowVlican

I see that you use UD-10 as transporter, I think instead of audio card. Do you link it with spdif or with other connection, to reduce jitter?
I'm thinking to link it with another DAC, like Zhaolu for example, instead of cheaper usb-to-spdif. Theoretically the result could be better. What do you think about.

Other tested it?

(sorry for my english, it's not my mothertongue)

what you are saying is correct

jitter is the only difference after the device is bitperfect..... granted i can't really hear the difference but at least i can sleep at night now

they are totally different products

the "emu0404usb" is not designed as a digital transport (and i think only ASIO can activate the SPDIF, where as the UD-10 spits out sound from everything)

certainly the "emu0404usb" has much higher quality analog outs, if that's what you're getting at....

Is the consensus on this device that the analog out isn't very good? I'm mainly looking for a usb dac with analog out and have been looking at this, the fubar, and scott nixon's dacs. Thanks

I use the analog out to go to my Jolida amp and it sounds great to me. Maybe I am just not used to better sound, but its deffinitly equal to the Corda Aria with its built in DAC.
