Two new HifiMan players announced: HM700 and HM802

Another question: Does the 802 have an equalizer? If so, how many bands does it have?

Neither HM901 nor HM802 have EQ. Not even HM700 has EQ. Well, Hifiman is no fan of EQ.

then what's that that my HM700 has?

So it has EQ now? Mine was running on the old firmware and I didn't see EQ anywhere.

Scrap that. I just found it hidden inside ">" + hold. Sorry about the mix up.

I am only talking about HM700 having EQ. I am pretty sure HM901 and HM802 have no EQ. Both are running on the same firmware and I have the HM901 with me right now (and no, no hidden menu in HM901 / HM802 that will give you EQ).

EQ on HM700 is pretty good actually, only 5 bands but well implemented.
They used to put EQ on 801, 602 etc but using the EQ degrades sound quality drastically, so they removed it on the newer generation DAPs, excepet for HM700, which is using a EQ friendly chip.

HM-901 - no EQ
HM-802 - no EQ
HM-700 - yes EQ

The last one has it, and it works like a charm, it really does the trick with RE-400B. Those respond very nicely to dB boosts and drops.
