Two New Compact MTouch Portable Players – Shanling M0 Pro and M1s
Oct 24, 2022 at 1:07 AM Post #46 of 83
Card size is not the issue, both of them should in theory run fine with the potential 2TB cards.

But there is file limit set on our MTouch system, same on M0 Pro. Not yet sure if it will be same on M1s with its new platform, awaiting confirmation from software team.

Only way around file limit is if you use only folder browsing, that's in theory unlimited.

As mentioned in first post, M0 Pro will come with a balanced adapter for 4.4mm in packaging.

Also, the 3.5mm connectors is TRRRS, 5-pin.

There are actually 4 standards if you count the Sony PHA-3/Pono.
Thanks as long as it can use a 1tb (upto 2tb in theory) with folder browsing then that's all I need for on the go ...

Leather case and 3.5mm to 4.4mm Balanced adapter sold separately.

Case - Ok
Balanced adapter - bumer. This option, advertised as a unique solution, should IMHO be part of standard package.

Working perfectly with all your standard single-ended 3.5mm connectors, while allowing for a proper balanced connection through a special 5-pin 3.5mm to 4.4mm adapter (Included in the packaging).

* Leather case and 3.5mm to 4.4mm Balanced adapter sold separately.
This is unfortunate? Or am I reading it wrongly?

I'm waiting on M1s release date....
Yes, that's the one that grabbed my attention. I do love my M0 but it's still working just fine, so no need for a Pro.

It was later decided to keep the adapter separate, to keep the base price of M0 Pro lower for the users that don't want the balanced output.

Fair enough. I have three additional questions:

  1. How much will the adapter cost?
  2. Will there be a clip on case like the OG M0?
  3. It’s tuned more towards the Shanling house sound. I currently only have a Q1 from Shanling. Is that tuned the same? And was about M0 OG?
Thanks! Will probably go for the M1s, but the M0 size is so convenient!

How would this compare to the M3 Ultra, in the audio department?

M3 Ultra: dual ES9219C, 2x Ricore RT6863, ELNA Silmic II capacitors, tuned “more in the line” with the Shanling house sound.

M1S: an (as in: one?) ES9038Q2M DAC, in-house developed FPGA technology and dedicated yet unspecified headphone amplifiers.

Can some of the more experienced users make any sense of which of these is comparatively higher end?

Fiio M11S is far better IMHO, as the price in my region is exactly the same for both players - Not a single buck cheaper or anything.

ES9219C is an entry-level DAC compared to ES9038Q2M. Yes...I know the tuning and all etc But then look at the power figure of the AMP Section of both.

What 'Shang' is charging to the user with this 'ultra' are SD665, 3GB RAM, and Andriod 10... That's all.

Oh that’s nice to know! The Fiio is €100 more expensive here.. but at least it’s available

Apologies for my previous comment, missed the 'M1S' part - I thought the comparison between M11S vs M3 Ultra....(both cost $521 after all taxes in my region)

For M1S we need to wait for the reviewers who actually experienced the product.
