Hey y'all, long-time lurker, but first post here!
 
I'm a college student and I've been buying used vinyl for a while, somewhat pointlessly as I've really delayed investing in a turntable setup. Well I think it's about time. I'm essentially wondering what gear I would need, and what would be the best to get (in my fairly modest price range), in order to enjoy my records on a turntable but listen over both speakers and headphones (probably mostly headphones). I'd be looking to spend perhaps around $250 on a table and $100 or so on whatever preamp/headphone amp might be required for this setup.

Go to www.Musicdirect.com or www.Elusivedisc.com or www.Needledoctor.com ,etc., and have a look at the entry level turntables that include a cartridge for your budget.  Then find yourself an old receiver from the 70s or so at a thrift store and you're good to go for a start up system.
 
But I gotta say, $250 for a new table and cart is gonna be hard to find.  So maybe hit the thrift store first and see if they have some better old tables.  Or double that $250 and your options really open up for a new one.

If that Kenwood KD-3070 is working well, and the seller has a realistic price (under $100 for sure, under $75 ideally), that is actually quite a decent starter TT.

The guy is asking $100 right now.  He says its looks and works 100%(It does look pretty good in the pictures.).   It also comes with an extra Audio Technica Dual Magnetic Cartridge, AT96E .4 x .7 mil Bi Radial Diamond.  Is that a good price with the included cart?

If the cartridge (or at least stylus) is new/unused, I'd think that's a decent deal.

Anyone know where I can get a Technics Linear IC AN6675K here in america?  I sent a email out to a place in germany to see if they will ship one to the US just waiting for their reply.

A while ago Clayton SF posted up that he has one of these air blowers for cleaning his amps and what ever.  I finally got around to getting one a few weeks ago, and finally got around to posting about it.  It's a very good idea to have one.  You'll be blowing dust off everything you own for a few days!  Good for hitting the records along with the brush that you should be using.

Do I need to get a preamp, phono stage, or anything else for a Pioneer SX-315 receiver?  I'm not really sure what it has, and that is what I'd be using with my turntable from the looks of it right now.

It does not appear to me that the SX-315 has a phono input, so you would need an outboard phono stage, yes.
