Agreed but I was more trying to get at that aspect I did say getting close, of course a direct comparison would be out of the question

Brooko send me a message it's been awhile wanted to get your thoughts on the filters as I only had time with the Gold ones on. Also damn it with your fair ability not hype up too much although we need that I just get carried away it sounds like such a great piece of gear!

Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.

Don't take it that I was trying to shoot you down - OK

Whne the comment was made about the HD600 I had to step in.  People will be making buying decisions based on what is said - and being a long time owner of the HD600, and having the Sabre with me now, I just want to make sure people are aware of what is real, and what is simply excitement about a new product.

Whilst I have the Sabre (and I'm pretty sure this is the final tuned model), I only have the one filter - so everything I say will be based on that.  Bob, Vince and I have talked at length regarding the ideal tonality changes for the filter systems, and we've given our guidance for what would give the most "value" and cover most bases. I'm confident that Bob will deliver on the filters - he knows what is required, and he is very good at delivering based on what we advise (as long as it fits into his own ideas on sonic signature - he is after all the genius behind the tuning - all we are is the critiquers on the side).  Personally I thought the filters on the Atlas were too close (not enough variety).  This is something I think will be fixed with Sabre and Master.

I also have the Delta V2 (I bought a pair). Currently waiting for a replacement as it looks like the bass driver on side is blown or at least crippled - it's OK - this sort of thing can happen - no reflection on Bob ior his QC or anything.  So I can't compare the new Delta - but I will try and show later (if I get time) the effect of filters on the good driver.

Going to take me a few hours to put all this together.  I'd better get started!

It makes sense that soundstage will be much smaller on an IEM than on an open headphone, but what about the rest of the qualities? like micro details, bass tightness etc? I have only had a few over ear headphones but have not found them overly impressive. I am considering an open back such as the Beyerdynamic T90;can you tell me if it is possible to get IEM's, for example the masters, that can compete with a sound like that, or other good open back headphones? Again, I know the IEM's will lose on some parameters. :)

I can get a reasonable idea of how they sound - but yeah, until I have the other driver working in perfect harmony its a bit hard to comment.

Can at least get you guys pictures though.  Ina  few hours.  Have to set up photography rig first.

Can probably answer some of this - but might pay for you to start a new thread rather than take this one O/T.  Just mention me with an @Brooko and I'll see it.  Just state which IEM you want to get closest to, and ask for recommendations of similar full sized headphones.  Difficult to recommend anything unless we are talking specifics.

Nope - check my profile for what I have and what I've heard.  I'll try and update it over the weekend with some of the new stuff.

Why did you come up with two that virtually no-one has heard?

EDIT - OBravo's 600 quid - ouch.

As long as your headfi member and put your user name in the order notes you can use it.

What?!?!
blink.gif
where did I read something about preorders and head-fi code not stacking... maybe it was for the delta ii... and my sabre is already paid :(.
Next time I will take care to read everything two times. I think it will be worth the price anyway. :D
Will try to remember while buying the BT cable in the future.

The Radius HP TWF4 price is some four (4)  times higher, the Obravo ERIB-2A  price is some  nine (9) times higher than Sabres price.   Can you feel the contradiction  audio123  ?
i did not compare to the sabre haha. Some of you are comparing the sabre to headphones! Only iems comparable to headphones are planar iems IMO :p

Oh gosh I don't even want to comment on the Obravo heard the model up from that, just not saying a word. Okay one.... I don't care how many people hate me for saying this but it doesn't do it for me even if it were  lower price than the Sabre I'd pick it over it any day of the week. Some people might find it amazing spacious and I know Phil loves them to bits he couldn't see how I liked the R2Pro over them but I geuss sound is subjective. I'd post more impressions but I only like to do it with either the iems sitting next to me or whilst the sound is still fresh in my mind or else I could just be chatting our me bum.

Also thanks Brooko for all the hard work! Looking forward to the pics, you got the slightly bigger housing unit on the new Delta....? I preferred the fit don't know why deeper insertion I geuss.

Yeah sorry - got sidetracked today (Bob already knows). Took the day off work fully intending to do some reviews and summarise the Sabre.  Ended up taking my 14yo down to the park with my clubs and practise balls and spent a couple of hours just having some good one-on-one father and son time.  After that we grabbed a movie and watched that.  Thoroughly enjoyable day.  Will get onto the audio stuff in the morning.

O yeah - and the fit of the Delta is actually pretty good.  Definitely longer, but nothing too bad :)
