I saw you tried a bit of Canal Works stuff. I am interested in them for the sexiness factor. The 77 doesn't seem to be my type. Have more thoughts on the more neutral 72? I also saw they now have a U73 which seems interesting.

Oh man one thing I really regretted was my writing style with the first half of my content. Now that I look back to it, it isn't really helpful with what I wrote. Wish I still had access to them! But from what I remember, the 72s are a bit darker. Really wouldn't blind buy them before trying first. Looks like I won't have access to them anytime soon since I'm stuck in the country; curious about 73 myself. The 3-5 driver stuff from Canal Works are quite disappointing since they are muddy.
For the sexiness factor, you might consider Kumitate Lab.
Kumitate stuff are really some of the prettiest money can buy. Their Raden stuff do have quite the wait time though. I know someone that has been waiting 2 years for them.

Here are some brief thoughts on Solaris SE, AB'd against OG Solaris.

-OG sounds drier, with more forward treble.
-I prefer OG's presentation/staging more.
-SE is smoother, bit thinner and has less lowermids.
-SE is better balanced tonally IMO. OG's bass can come in sounding bloated and can be hazy sometimes.

I'm torn as to which I like better. They're more similar than different.

I think I've also been too critical of Solaris. These image really well and both sport good extension on the highs. Their tone is the bottleneck with the midrange.

Edit: Nevermind, I like SE more since it has more uppermids. Less "hazy" as well. Well done.

Updated: Personal Favourites

Removed PP8 since I felt that I didn't like it anymore after numerous listens. Has issues with treble extension which I am speculating that it contributes its to its plasticky timbre which sounds artificial and unnatural. There are much more reference class IEMs which makes for a more realistic, more well extended tonality such as Hidition's Viento and NT6. PP8's cymbals can also sound like toys at times perhaps due to aforementioned treble issues.

Added NT6 to replace PP8. While NT6 isn't as technical as the leaner sounding Viento-B, I prefer NT6's tonal balance. It could use a bit more warmth in its tonal balance for even better voicing but I think it comes the closest to how speakers tend to usually place and image instruments. Of course the soundstage is not speaker-like in terms of size, but I think this IEM best represents one in some aspects like placement.

I am super aligned with this. I owned both, and loved the NT6. It sounds wonderfully engaging with a warm / full source. On the other hand the PP8, while doing nothing wrong, always failed to engage me in the music.

I've been thinking on a CIEM NT6. However nowadays I find that I am satisfied and chasing the dragon isn't worth the money as I just have other priorities.
Hi @toranku have you heard the new JVC FDX1? I know you have or used to have the modded FD01. Just wanted to know how you think the new Drop FDX1 stacks up.
I've heard the FDX1 on 1 filter I think, can't remember which. Until I try it on all 3 filters, I'll keep my thoughts reserved
