I have just got my d90 and I can say for me there is a slight crackle when playing and pausing music. I have only used usb so far.

Why am I mentioning this? As it turns out, the USB control panel for both the Topping and iFi devices are eerily similar:

Almost all current DACs are using XMOS controllers with standard XMOS drivers (or thesyscon optimized ones). This is why these control panels tend to look alike.

So i upgraded the Power Cable (multiways & few cords) on the D90 because of some talk on other forums &...... Care to guess the results?

tl:dr: Sound & soundstage was the same, imaging volume & bass volume boosted slightly (except with the silver plated copper bass dropped lower than stock cable).
Not worth it in my experience & opinion.

I can go deeper into this but If you have heard RCA & XLR on your system its basiclly that: same sound slight volume change. Not worth the cost.

Have the D90 for probably 6 weeks now and have sold my Pavane...yes, sounds crazy but the Pavane( or Hex which I had before)was too non engaging for me.
D90 is exactly what I was hoping for...stunning holographic presentation and engaging sound altogether.
As fickle as I am I have bought a PS Audio Wave Mk2 yesterday and that might *top* it...

No, you are viewing it incorrectly, What i'm saying is the "change" is the Similar going from RCA to XLR, Same sound, but slight DB increase in bass/imaging. Zero voltage reference mentioned for good reason!
While you are right RCA to XLR +3DB? is due to voltage I have zero idea why for the power cable.

After further consideration I believe I love the D90 and the thx 789 with my ah-d7000's. This combo sounds literally perfect to me. It makes me sad that the D7000 will die someday and I may not be able to find more. I haven't noticed any weird usb noises yet. I can turn the volume knob all the way up on max gain and it's silent. Not sure what else I could ask for at this point.

According to D90 user’s manual, section Operation, 6. PCM filter setting: PCM FIR / Mode 3, SHORT_DELAY_SHARP_ROLL_OFF_FILTER (Default)

Can someone tell me pitfalls of using the II2 connection from the PC. Nobody seems to use this so Im assuming there is a compatibility issue. Feel free to link me out for an explanation. Thanks in advance.

Can’t use it directly from my server but with the Singxer su-1 inbetween II2 works. Needless to say I prefer USB or everything else. II2 is too harsh/digital sounding; ultra clear but lacks musicality, at least in my system.
