Hello,

I am currently hunting for a set of full size cans that I will mainly use during my gaming sessions.

I don't need an inline mic because most of my gaming is solo. I wear glasses so I want something that is going to fit comfortably without pushing the top of my ear against my glasses( which is painful and very aggravating).

I would prefer a single entry cord but it's not a must, cord length is not a huge concern as I'm right at the computer playing.

The main factor is sound of course, I need a something that is going to portray a lot of the subtle details (footsteps, leaves rustling, glass breaking) without giving up being convincing during gunshots, and explosions. The vocal range needs to be good, I'm not looking for perfection but don't want to hear the hissing or drawn out "sss" sounds either.

The ability to portray a sound stage in front, to the sides and behind is vital as well, I don't want a surround headphone as the drivers are tiny and perform as such.

I have been using a pair of Skullcandy Ink'd ear buds with great satisfaction in the sound/noise isolation department but the comfort is lacking and makes me irritable after about 30 minutes.

Anyone who plays computer games at a high level like I do understand the needs to a superb sound solution and my 7.1 surround sound isn't an option once the sun goes down.

Thanks for reading,
josh

The JVC HArx700's are a nice set for around $35 bucks.

I was reading through review on this site pertaining to the HD668b http://www.head-fi.org/products/superlux-hd-668-b/reviews

The common theme seems to be that they are clear and accurate with spacious sound stage and neutral bass. I'm liking the reviews but I have to ask if the clamping force will crush my ears against the frames of my glasses?

I like the look.

I've heard good things about the AD500 being very akin to the AD700.

I believe the AD500 is out of my price range, audio technica right?

I'm sure he was referring to the Audio Technica ATH-AD500.
At the price range you have, you not going to get great all around headphones.
I do not believe the Superlux HD-668Bs would clamp hard enough to hurt your glasses.

I wear glasses and have used plenty of headphones like them without any issues.

Agreed, I understand it's hard to work with but a budget is a budget.
I found some chatter about the Samson SR850 http://www.head-fi.org/t/546544/samson-sr850-superlux-oem-review-a-50-budget-champion#post_7367892

I am also curious about the Hd681's of the superflux line, worth their salt considering the success of the hd668b?

http://www.amazon.com/Superlux-681-Dynamic-Semi-Open-Headphones/dp/B002GHIPYI/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1314733944&sr=1-3

And google brought me right back here to this review/impression

http://www.head-fi.org/t/436092/superlux-hd681-impressions-akg-copy-budget-open-air-headphone

Are these aimed at being slightly less refined in exchange for a slightly deeper bass response and mid bass punch?

I'm curious there, going to go read through some more reviews on this forum.

Thanks,
Josh

Okay just wanted to be sure, if I do run into such a problem with too much force can't I just clamp them over a book for say 12 hours to lessen the force?
