You and a volleyball named Wilson get stranded on a deserted island. You brought your PPA, Philips 963SA, Beyerdynamic DT-880, (Koss Portapro’s for Wilson), Canare interconnects, and a solar panel/battery to power it all. Fortunately for you, your prayers are answered by a Fed-Ex package that drifts ashore with the top five CD’s that you could live with for the next few years.

In order, what are the five CD’s?

if i was stranded on a desert island with dt880s as my only cans... i would hope they are built well enough to beat myself unconscious because they sure as hell won't be used for music.

But in the spirit of ANOTHER desert island thread, i'll make believe you were just referring to having a decent rig on-hand. If i was on a desert island, i'd probably want more peaceful music than hard rock, but the occasional metallica urge will kick in... so here it goes:

1.) Brahms's 3rd symphony (my cd also has the 5th, but the 3rd is what I need).
2.) Vivaldi - Four Seasons
3.) Art Blakey - Africaine
4.) Norah Jones - Come Away with Me (it's damn good sleep music)
5.) Metallica - Master of Puppets

It's 5:45 am Central time...do you know where your sanity is?

I'm making it 6 CDs. So there. I can't put these in a specific order, so...

1) Massive Attack - Mezzanine
2) Amon Tobin - Bricolage
3) Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi OST
4) Yoko Kanno - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex OST
5) Radiohead - OK Computer
6) Hiroki Kikuta - Soukaigi OST

  1. hum - you'd prefer an astronaut
  2. modest mouse - the lonesome crowded west
  3. tori amos - boys for pele
  4. elliott smith - either/or
  5. the white stripes - elephant[/list=1]

sometimes a few of those get mixed up, but the top three never change.

That's really too tough for me to come up with a real answer, so...here's a decent attempt (and assuming that NIN's The Fragile counts as one cd):

NIN - The Fragile
NIN - And All That Could Have Been (bonus ed. pls ;D)
VAST - Visual Audio Sensory Theater
Devin Townsend - toss-up between Accelerated Evolution and Terria
and last would be a toss-up for my lets-go-crazy cd - Blood Brothers "Burn Piano Island Burn" or Strapping Young Lad's "City" or "SYL," and not so much go-crazy, but maybe Mars-Volta's "deloused in the comatorium"

I know that's a lot of variables (and believe me, I wanted to add a lot more), but I think I'd be delighted to have any combination of the above.

[edit]
and for the love of all that is sacred and holy, let us at least choose which cans we want to be stranded with...for me that's the Alessandro MS2 (or perhaps the Ety ER-4)

First off, I would swap with Wilson for the Portapros

1) Modest Mouse - Building Nothing Out Of Something
2) Radiohead - Kid A/Amnesiac (it's like a double album, ok? Don't make me choose between them

)
3) Boards of Canada - Music Has The Right To Children
4) Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada
5) Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun
