Some songs are available in HiFi, while others only stream at 320 kilobits? I am unclear what the lower bit rate is.

Is there an album that is known to be in HiFi? I'm trying a few different means of streaming (Android via UAPP, iOS via native app, MacOS via web browser, Windows via native app, and via physical boxes such as Oppo and Squeezebox), and would like to test with something that is known to have HiFi capacity. It would be helpful if it were something of fairly good recording quality. I'm not too genre concerned.

Thanks!

Are you trying to figure out which ones are HIFI and what are 320? If you are subscribed to the HIFI and when the song is playing the HIFI will be white and when it's gray its premium which should be 320. If that's not your question then I'm not sure what your asking.

That is exactly what I'm trying to ask.

I have never seen the HiFi change - it is always white. So I was under the suspicion that everything I was listening to was HiFi. However when using UAPP on an Android device, it displayed that the download rate was 320. So I can only conclude, at this moment, that there is an issue with UAPP. However I wanted to first validate that the original song was truly HiFi.

Thanks! I am still looking for something to change, so I'm sure I'm listening to HiFi. I've never seen the gray HiFi.

Is there any eq i can use to integrate with tidal on pc and android?

I have heard something about amarra...how does it work? Is it any good?

Amarra is very good.  There's also Amarra for Tidal, with flexible custom EQ plus useful presets.  However, Amarra has been Mac only.  I understand that they will soon have a windows version.  I'm sure others will chime in about good eq for pc and Android, I don't really follow that but there are good ones out there, Foobar, and more.

Here is the strange thing I have recently noticed... I mostly download the albums I will listen too in the offline mode and disable the Tidal APP from going online, that way the album plays from my iphones memory and doesn't stream, the sound quality improvement is very noticeable over streaming it online via the HiFi setting. Anyone else experience this? Either way I am not complaining since I really enjoy the offline sound quality very much with my set-up, but it is kind of annoying I must say.

There should not be a difference.  The settings offer both a streaming quality and a download quality.  Make sure these are set correctly.  If you still hear a difference and the settings are identical, your ears are most assuredly being deceived, and you need to consider a proper blind test to make certain you are actually hearing what you believe you are hearing.  Otherwise, all we can do is shrug our shoulders and assume you have some odd issue that only applies to your particular configuration.  Your experience isn't normal.

Only got in to tidal yesterday, shame on me I know. I was just wondering if there is a "How to" or FAQ on how to stream Tidal from pc to AK380? Or is it just not possible yet?
Thank you

I'm yet to receive my A&K DAP (some time toward the end of this week I'm hoping) but as far as I'm aware Tidal support for their players are "officially in the works" - this may only apply to it being streamed from the actual device though, I think I've read somewhere on more than one occasion that there is a way to stream it through your PC and into the player, I just don't remember/know how it is done unfortunately.

Here's hoping they update the firmware to support Tidal sooner rather than later, it was by far the biggest reason that kept me away from A&K products (though with the introduction of the 70 I couldn't resist for the price regardless).

i have been lookinh into getting the ak300 so i have called 3 different a&k dealers and they all have said that the ak 300 supports tidal streaming and offline use. I cant speak for the other models. Make some phone calls and ask some questions and im sure you can find your answers. Hope that helps.

Oh, really? Our dealer literally just struck a deal with A&K a couple weeks ago so they aren't exactly knowledgeable regarding the intricacies of their products just yet - I don't live in the US and this is the first store in my country that sells AK so it's tougher to ask questions.

Sounds good though, guess I'll find out when my player arrives in a few days!

be sure to post your results. I would like to think 3 different dealers would know what they are talking about but i would feel better if i heard it from someone who has an a&k product and has seen it with their own eyes before i drop a grand on the ak 300. Im paranoid! Lol

Both those settings are set to the highest option. Will do a blind test and post the results. The difference though is not subtle, but perhaps it is just my imagination. My audio set-up is located kind of far away from my router, so perhaps the signal strength is weaker, but wouldn't the music cut and fail to load if this was the issue? Either way, thanks for the info and I will let you guys know what the result is.

I have AK300 and haven't figured out how to stream Tidal yet. No clue how it would even be done as there's no option (that I can find) on the device to do so.
i just sent an email to astell & kern about this. I asked about streaming and offline use. I will post their reply as soon as i hear from them.
