Latest update is bad! After update it'll "play" a song without sound. What I mean is it will look like it's playing, but it's not. I have to go into settings and switch to default sound output and then back to my DAC. It's happened after every song so far. Gonna reset my computer and give it another try.

This happens to me, too. The only way to make it work is to press the rewind button. Sucks.

It took three tries to get a good download but it finally installed for me. No troubles with playback however.

I'm Windows 7, so maybe that's why, but still unacceptable. Hope they fix it. I don't plan on upgrading to Windows 10 any time soon.

I may before the free upgrade offer ends (July 29), but not now, not just for Tidal. I actually upgraded when it was first offered, but ran into licensing issues. I don't recall exactly what not, but it was a pain to get everything back to Windows 7 because the system restore disk I was provided by the manufacturer was corrupt.
 
I have no issues with Windows 7 (besides the Tidal thing, apparently), so if it ain't broke...

Better do the upgrade, and preferably a fresh install. They have a tool that will facilitate a fresh install. Upgrading overtop of another OS is always going to cause issues. Fresh install = fresh registry = better experience. Microsoft is phasing out technical support for Win 7 as you know so that is also a factor. Cheers.

That's exactly what I did. Had licensing issues. My product key didn't work.

Is it a legal product key? There are lots of illegal copies and keys flying around. Even if you have to buy the OS, which hopefully you don't, at least these days they don't charge that much. I remember when they used to charge close to $300 Canadian for a new OS so in that context I guess the pricing is reasonable. Hopefully your key is legal. I don't mean that in a moral judgement way, I have had illegal copies of Windows in the past as have many of us, I just mean hopefully legal so that you can get 10 without paying. Cheers.

Ha, no worries. It is definitely legal copy. I purchased this computer from Origin PC (it's a high-end custom gaming PC), which came with their Microsoft-issued copy of Win 7. For whatever reason, when I did the Win 10 (clean) upgrade, Microsoft did not recognize the product key that Origin provided.

Anyway, appreciate the help, and I will eventually upgrade, but I think we've derailed the thread far enough .
