Can anyone confirm that is possible connect an external amp/dac by micro usb to micro usb. I own the Opus#1 and I'm thinking to upgrade to the 1s so I can connect my Mojo with this cable.

Fwiw I've not been able to get it to work through USB out. It does have optical out though and iirc the Mojo have an optical input (I could be wrong though since its been a long time since I had the Mojo).

Edit: I'm not sure that the Mojo would offer any sonic benefits though, just a different signature.....

What is the purpose of the iematch?

Reduces backgreound noise and hiss if your IEMs can pick it up, very subjective if you can hear it, and not all IEMs can pick up said noise, so it isn't exactly a straightforward answer.

It helps to prevent hiss when using very sensitive earphones

Spot on. Also background noise.

Came across this thread after i read all about Opus #1S / Cayin N5ii / Hiby R6 by accident.
My current set up is Shanling M2 + Cayin C5 with UE Triple.Fi 10 pro and Earsonics sm64.
Been wondering should i be upgrading to Opus #1s / Cayin n5ii or even Hiby R6.
Any comments are much appreciated.

I have heard great things about the Hiby R6, I turned down a chance to review it because I just am so behind and have so many reviews to write. I can tell you that the Opus#1S is a fine DAP with a overall warm tone and plenty of power to drive most IEM's you have.

I'd even say that it has enough power for every pair of IEM's in existence.....

I do not mind using the C5 with my dap. I am more concern on the advantage on upgrading from Shanling M2 (single cs4398) to opus #1s (dual cs43198). Then of course, the n5ii (single ess9018K2M), r6(dual ess9028Q2M) might have a different sound signature completely.

Comparisons should be easy for you to find. Those Daps (except for the M2) are often compared to each other by reviewers.

Personally, my favourite in the $400-$600 price range is the DX150. I'll only go with the N5ii because I need dual sd slots but sonically the DX150 is simply superb for the price.

Basically, i am wondering would it be a worthwhile upgrade from a single dac dap (Shanling m2 single cs4398) to a dual dac dap (opus#1s dual cs43198).
If it is, then I would further explore the different sound signature between dual cs43198, ess9028Q2m and ak4490EQ.
Thank you guys for all your comments. cheers.

Keep in mind that the Dacs used in a Dap isn't a good way to judge the sound signature. For instance, the N5ii does not sound like a typical 9018k2m Dap. Implementation of the DACs are very very important. Same goes for the amplification used.

Going from single DAC to dual DAC won't always give better sound. The QP1R only has a single cs4398 yet it has TOTL-worthy sound.

Left my 1S for 30 secs and now the screen won't turn back on. Time to return to Amazon I guess. That was fast.

Update: Had it in my fast charger. Not sure if that freaked it out. Put it on a normal slow charger for 10 min and the screen came back. Left it 10 more minutes and it's not turning on again.

I did a direct compare of the N5ii vs the Opus #1s in my reviews of the two. I didn't have the R6 at that point but have had the chance to try one since. Honestly Opus #1s vs R6 vs N5ii is going to come down to price and features. Sound wise, they are all excellent although I would give a slight edge to the Opus #1s over the other two. The most complete feature set honors go to the R6 as the Opus lacks Bluetooth, wifi, streaming... The N5ii sounds excellent and certainly is feature loaded but recent bug reports would have me a bit gun-shy of it until they get the firmware fully sorted out. If/When (And with Cayin more when than if) they get the glitches out of the N5ii it will be the benchmark at its price point as sound wise it competes pretty evenly with anything short of $800-900 price range.

Have you got the chance to try out the DX150? I find that even better sounding than my N5ii. It's up there with the FiiO X7ii and DX200 in terms of SQ. Really incredible for just 500 bucks.
