Dear Head-Fi-ers.

Have received feedback from Opus, and it is confirmed that Opus #1 does natively playback DSD files.
All DSD files will be downsampled to 24/196.

Sounds to me that it downsample it to 24/196 for playback. They just kinda "sugarcoat" it by saying natively downsample it.

I have went to CanJam Singapore early this year, and they did say that the Opus #1 is not native DSD.
During that time, they did mentioned the native DSD player from them will be the next product which is the current Opus #2.

I am off the Opus 1 train.  I agree that companies should be more honest.  it is not the right way to operate.  I am not into DSD myself.

I do have some DSD album myself. The main reason I got it is you know...

I wish they could just stated in the website more obvious in a way that let people be aware of it isn't a "native" DSD player. Not just to people they meet in general.

My DSD files sound fine on the Opus 1, although truthfully I only have about 5 recordings on DSD so I may not be the best judge. For the money I'm happy with my purchase which I've owned since it's early release.

I hope they put a bracket beside the DSD saying not native and will be in PCM or something. Thus it won't mislead people to get it. Just my opinion about it.

Kind of like Audeze.  They caused confusion by not saying Isine works with Android.  So they put the Android logo on the product images.  People now think it comes with Android cable when it does not does not.  An easy thing to misunderstand.  A good rule of thumb is never assume anything.

If you realised, those that support native DSD usually will put it BIG for people to see.
But then again, on the go with the noise ambiance, I doubt many people will be able to differentiate a Native DSD and downsample DSD playback.
Just my 2cents.

That proves my last point.  Don't assume.  If it is not listed anywhere easy to see then it is most likely not capable of that function.  I am off the train because making playlists seems to be too tedious for my limited patience on the Opus 1 and it does not support M3U or M3U8 playlists.
