Jaben sells them for about $350 whereas I can get it for about ~$150 from amazonjp and then add maybe $25 shipping from Tenso. Australians always get shafted locally I swear. :/

HOLY CRAP $350!!!

That's worse then highway robbery meng.  For what you can get from amazon jpn these are crazy worth it. I hear ya' regarding that non-detachable cable, we addressed this issue before though. I got over it tbh. LoL

Their compact/ small/ slick/ professional/ mature/ light/ elegant profile makes them perfect for portable use. All that combined with a sexy bass end which seem to enhance the overall sonic experience of the mids/ highs makes these WS99 a COMPLETE headphone.

Be careful. Less than 9 months ago I was the proud owner of... a pair of KSC75's that cost me $30. Then I found some posts where this fellow named dsnuts was chiming in.... and chiming in quite convincingly. It wasn't very long before I truly understood the meaning of the standard head-fi greeting...

Sorry for your wallet!

But now that Ds is busy hurting his brain studying and not having as much time for head-fi, you might be able to resist for a little while longer. But not much longer lol!

I doubled checked what the estimated cost of shipping and fees from Tenso would be to ship from Japan to the US and they've certainly taken a climb since I used their service in December. Estimated $60 compared to the $34 I paid when I ordered my AD900x through them. At that price, $153 + $60 is basically what Amazon US is offering for the WS99, so I might just buy from a US seller.

Are you sure? I got the AD900X's 4 months ago, Tenso was $42CN to Canada. And when I got the WS99's a month ago, it was about the same, and I just checked now, and they are still quoting the same: 1160 g to North America = 3780 yen = $38US.

Using the shipping charge estimator on Tenso's page just now, I get ¥5780 for EMS shipping + shipping and handling + Tenso usage fee which = $58.12. Unfortunately, I didn't use the estimator when I ordered my AD900x so maybe it's a very rough estimate. I could get a used pair for ¥13800 which = ~ $138 though, which would be a very nice price...

Hey guys, been following this thread for a while, awesome stuff so far. Only one thing holding me back from grabbing a pair...how's the bass extension? Does it reach as low as 20 Hz without rolling off? I use this for example as a test: http://www.audiocheck.net/audiotests_frequencychecklow.php

I asked for a frequency response chart on Audio-Technica's website, so I'll post whatever they send me in response. I did however find something I'm sure we can all appreciate on their website, enjoy

All right, I just pulled the trigger on a $140 pair of WS99 :D It's used, but the seller had good ratings, so crossing my fingers. Either way, super excited to add them to my collection.

Damn where you find this sweet deal at??? Ebay???

Congrats!!!

Thanks! Managed to find a used pair on Amazon Japan. Even the new pairs are only about $150, though.

I wish! :p shipping through Tenso, but shouldn't be adding too much. At $140 for the cans, shipping at around 30-40 bucks (which I hope and expect it to end up costing from tenso), it's still a steal compared to US sellers.
