Last week, I finally got my 4.A back from repairs. The Wizard wanted to try some new stuff, so I said "Why not?" and as expected, the results are stunning. It's a simple design --- from afar, people won't be able to tell it from a typical deep blue color, but up close you can see that the Wizard added a little something extra. The picture doesn't really do the texture swirl of the acrylic justice, but it's the best I could do. I have to say, the printing on the MDSP + Serial Number is also improved over before. The lettering is high resolution, and really clean. Just when you think Heir can't get any better with their build quality, think again!

Thank you for giving me the chance to add some "Thai Art" to your CIEMs, as I have been meaning to pay respects to Thailand for a long while now. For those that do not know, I learned this craft there. I also developed the Heir Audio product line up while I was there. I had a lot of help while in Thailand and I wanted to pay tribute to those that helped me and for my time spent there.

Which cable is that on your 4.A Tomscy2000? Connectors don't look very stock-ish

CIEMs look great by the way.

Wow!!! I hope it was done by at least a Dr. if not a Professor of Audiology.....That is a shocking price
confused_face.gif

For $25 I got someone with these qualifications:-

Qualifications:
Au.D (ATSU)
M. Sc. (Audiology) (HKU)
B. Soc. Sci. (Hon.) (Psychology) (HKU)
Certificate in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (London, UK)
Certificate in Youth Counselling
Life Member of Hong Kong Society of Audiology

Work experience:
Audiologist
  - Different ENT Clinics and Hearing Centres
  - The first audiologist in HK licenced to practise TRT
     to treat tinnitus
Part-time Assistant Professor
  - University of Hong Kong, Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences
Research Assistant
  - University of Hong Kong, Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences

And my courier service to Chengdu was $8 and my ear impressions have arrived today and signed for, at least through checking the tracking number. Waiting for acknowledgement from Heir as to whether they comply with requirements.

You really can not compare these prices to the rest of the world, as education fees are far different. In the USA, Audiologists are spending around 100K USD for their education, the cost of doing business is also higher in other parts of the world as well.  (All things considered, $50 is a bargain)

Oh, I should thank you! The Thai art looks great, and it fits in beautifully against the blue. Glad to be a part of the Heir Audio origin story!

The cable is from BTG-Audio --- the Sunrise CIEM cable. Best $70 cable anyone can get, IMO (though the price has gone up a bit, I think). However, it is special-ordered; the default cable uses clear sleeving for the wires; I wanted black with clear overmold and no nylon sleeving for the bottom half, so I had to order during the pre-order period. This was the look I had hoped the Magnus-1 had; average_joe's 8.A came with a prototype Magnus-1 that had the same look, but I think Heir Audio ran into production issues with the people doing the overmold, and so they opted to go with the round-type connectors. In all honesty, those modular connectors are much easier to service, since overmolded connectors are pretty much useless after they break. However, I'm a sucker for aesthetics, so I had to get it overmolded!

I live in the US, I can personally attest (with my 4.A and 8.A orders) that you have nothing to worry about.  Living in Australia, you are practically next door to a company that does not mess around when it comes to customer service.  You are in very good hands, literally, with the Wizard and company.  (I strive for excellence in my own work and hope for the same from everyone else).

As for the Magnus-1 cable, you can't go wrong.  It's a great magnitude more durable and ergonomic in every way than the standard "Westone" standard cable.

TThanks to you both, knowing I can get in touch with the company's head is actually a great comfort. I'd say much moreso than the warranty a locally-sold product would provide. You've certainly given me no reason not to choose Heir over the other IEMs I was considering.

Yes....  I took great notice of the over mold work.... Nice indeed

Those look great!

I also have the BTG sunrise , a special black w/ clear overmold. Must be from the same batch! Mine has the sleeving, though. Nice cable, a tad stiff but really well built. I also removed the memory wire, I like it much better that way.

I can't wait for my 4.A's to arrive, The BTG cable is going on them

Re: King8888 and not getting e-mail responses from Heir.

I had an issue with e-mail to China via the Heir site when I used the Yahoo! server.  Once I stopped using the Yahoo! and used my work e-mail address they all went through.  They were really responsive once the e-mails started going through.  The interruption in service was "all of a sudden" when it had been working before.
