Thanks Sorensiim,
Looks nice. How much volume do you use to drive your 8.As on average? Part of my problem with the Headstage is that I set the volume just above the point where the L/R balance fails. In other words, I can't allow the amp to drive to hard because my Westone EIMs are too sensitive. Well, its an issue with the UM3X, but not with the W4s which have a higher impedance.

With the 8.A I'm at 25-30% volume, the Tzar 350 makes me turn it up to 50% :)

Question for the "Heir"heads.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I'm wondering about the 3Ai universals.  I've never purchased headphones this expensive before, and I'm wondering, with my DAP of choice, is it worth it to spend the money?  I won't amp them, just straight from the phone, so I'm curious if it's worth it.  Little help please?

The 3.Ai sounded nice straight from my Galaxy Nexus, but they will improve as you upgrade your source :)

You're lucky. My Samsung (Galaxy Note) is the worst sounding phone ever created. I will never buy Samsung kit again, plasticy garbage with no quality control. I hear static constantly with all of my earphones, especially when I swipe the screen. I don't have any trouble with my iTouch.

I would... I even consired buying them after I saw their lastest promotion price! The problem is, here in Portugal where I live, stuff coming from outside the European Union is heavily taxed by our customs. So, for something like the 8.A, I'd pay about 40% more over it's price! Even at their actual discount price, it's just too much (also because I don't think it's fair to pay those 40% more in taxes and fees). If Heir Audio had already a UE office, like they have done for the USA, where their products would be shipped to Europe from within the EU, I think I'd already snatched a pair of 8.A for me at their current price!

And if the above wasn't enough, I have another problem... About the ear molds, I don't have anywhere near me where I can do it (best case scenario, more than 200km away)! So I'd probably end up going for a DIY ear mold kit. Never done it or tried those kits before, but I guess it's risky to do my ear molds for the first time and straight for $1000+ CIEMs...

So, you complain about first world problems, but as you can see, I have to deal with second or even third world ones!

There is a company in UK selling Heir Audio CIEMs & IEMs. 8A = £1059 shipped. Ear moulds extra.
PS I have no affiliation to the company, but have spoken to them & their CIEM specialist seems very knowledgable

Thanks Sorensiim.  I'm led to believe the 3Ai's are more v-shaped, with very good bass for a BA IEM, is that correct?  I really want to make sure I buy the right thing, as being a basshead, I always want more.  I've never considered spending this much on headphones before, except for Beats Studios XD, which I returned.  So this is a lot of money for me to think about dropping.

They're definitely V-shaped, but if you're a basshead you might want to check out the Future Sonics Atrio. Cheaper than the 3.Ai and more bass

There is no denying a V-shape in the 3.Ai.  They have great bass quantity and quality for any BA.  It should have quantities to satisfy a bass head...  There are of course other options that may be better suited for a bass heady, but these are up there on the list (although not at the top in terms of quantity).

I have a pair of Atrio's.  Don't like the signature.  The mids are too thin for me, and the highs are very grating.  I don't know if you've ever tried the Audio Technica CKS-77s, but that's what I'm looking for.  Except, I'd like more controlled bass reproduction.  Warm mids, and clear highs, with very good bass.

3.Ai for you, good sir!

Probably going to get the 4A's during the sale tommorow, the question is what wood I want.

I'm currently juggling siamese rosewood, zebrawood, kingwood, and bamboo.

Also debating between inlay or a woodied logo. Either the heir logo or a treble or bass clef. So many decisions, only a little over 24 hours to make them :frowning2:.

HAHA ^ ^ ^ do it, you only live once. Anyone tried the E11 with bass boost on with the 4.A(i)s? Kind of worried a little about the bass on them with sorens previous comments about the bass quantity.
