Received my FatFreq Scarlet Mini today. I think I need to burn it in, but can not find out its driver complement. DD, BA, WHAT??????
Please help.
Midrange on these is sweet
Bass is as advertised
How long did it take to receive yours? I had seen that some pre-orders took 5+ months to receive but I believe the wait is shorter now.
If you have them, the Final Type E Clear/Red tips are great on them.

Second this. I have the Final Audio E black tips and they fit my ears so well and give me A+ isolation with the Scarlets.

Hello friends, I might be late to the party but here are my impressions for the Nostalgia Audio Camelot(I made the same post in FB Groups).
WhatsApp Image 2024-06-05 at 18.13.26.jpeg
Man, as much as I control my hands to not go to the Camelot again and again, it has been my constant companion for the past two days. It feels like I just can’t get enough of this at all. After spending about 15 hours during the last three days, draining the battery of my XD05 Pro about 2 and a half times completely here are my initial impressions of this beautiful set.

Even though the shells are a bit on the bigger side, there are no issues in terms of fit and comfort. The pair provides excellent isolation as well. Camelot with a 2DD+4BA+4EST driver setup has a balanced and open sound presentation. The stage is expanded in all directions and the bass has a good reach into the sub-bass region. Mid-bass has a good body and slam, it hits precisely and has a quick decay as well. The overall tonality and texture of the bass are very well executed, The lower-end region is delicious to say the very least. Even with such a strong sub-bass presence, the overall output has a clean and majestic feel. Coming to the mid-range, the vocals and instruments sound accurate. They sound natural, and the resolution and clarity for the midrange is super clean.

On the stock cable, Avalon, the treble region is relaxed and laid-back. It has good details but the overall presentation is pretty laid back. On the stock cable, it sounds as if you can just put it into your ears and disappear for a few hours diving deeper into the music. Lancelot cable changes things, it adds energy into the treble region with the Camelot. Lancelot+Camelot is a set you can’t live without after listening to it for a few hours. It is musical, detailed, and expansive, yet sounds completely in control all the time. The soundstage size is big, massive to be accurate with my words. With the Lancelot, I hear details at the corners of my headroom.
camelot.jpg
Technically, it’s a great set, with the stock cable the minute details are not as pronounced as they are with the Lancelot. With the L+C, the combo sounds detailed, like presenting every minute detail completely effortlessly. It’s a sound my heart craves again and again lol.

Now some things are to be taken care of. First of all, Camelot on its own is a pretty solid set, but I personally feel Lancelot is a must-have accessory for this IEM. With the Lancelot, I feel the set is about two steps above its usual performance with the stock cable. But this cable upgrade itself is $1200, so the complete set is about $3700. So for people who want summit-fi level stuff, the Camelot and Lancelot combo is made for you!!

Next, I personally feel Camelot is a musical-sounding set with an excellent amount of details. Yet people who prefer bright signature might not find it perfect for their taste. And this is where their other flagship comes in place, the Tesseract. I remember hearing at the Nostalgia Booth and the detail level plus V-shape presence of Tesseract was making me teary. Maybe in the future someday will listen to it more and describe it more hahaha.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading these as my initial impressions. Believe me, I have not even started critical listening yet, these are just my thoughts after about 15 hours of listening with the set. I will listen more, and then probably come up with a final review for you guys to listen to.

Nice impressions and photos. Welcome to the Camelot club. Such a good sounding iem.

10 mm dynamic driver here for the lows, of which the composition is unknown, a balanced armature driver for the mids, and then there is a new tubeless hyper tweeter (also technically a balanced armature) driver for the highs
Thank you for your assistance. DD requires break in

Mine took three days by UPS from MusicTech

I bought Ruby and I’m not disappointed. The sub bass is pretty much smashing, with great clarity and more notably, cohesiveness/smoothness across the spectrum. The stock cable is good; with my other cables, I’ve been able to get an expanded soundstage. Retailing at about 3.3k Sing dollars, I applaud Eminent Ears for a wonderful first foray… Travis said each unit will go through initial burn in before shipping. Crazeee has received the tour unit and when the tour for SE Asia has concluded, we will send this on to Jeff, who has kindly agreed to facilitate via his tour network & SOP. I’ll defer to the other Coolers’ erudite writings and sophisticated photography expertise to provide their insights. I hope you will enjoy it if you’re keen to join the tour :)
For those in Singapore who want to try it, please pm me and I’ll look into arrangements for a local leg.
I knew it, You were gonna buy it during the first production haha. Mine is also in customs since the last 3 days in my country. Excitement is at an all time high haha.

Yesterday I purchased a mystery amplifier from a private store in China, a Shure KSE1200/1500 Electrostatic IEM amplifier, fully balanced design.
IMG_3537.jpg

I used it for a few hours and the IEMs did not break and I did not feel any noise. The most important thing is that I can use 4.4mm so I can get the full power out of my DAPs.

Not really a mystery tbh, that KSE-1500 IEM is still available and comes with this amplifier. I am not sure about the dangers of using this with anything else. I hope you did not pay too much for it.

This is a modern classic album in my opinion. Sounds great on almost anything, including the Dunu Mirai, with which I just listened to it. :)

I have a kse1200 and I just purchased a balanced amp created by a third party.
I was worried that the electrostatic type might break if the voltage was too high, but it seems to be fine.

The amplifier Whiteil46 is talking about is not the official Shure KSE amplifier. It is another with a balanced 4.4mm input.

It's funny that you should mention them specifically. I don't really read others' reviews these days because I simply don't blind buy anymore. But, the four people that I have the deepest audible correlation with just happens to be Jude, Lieven, Marcus and you.

Thanks man!

And @twister6 is right, him, Marcus and me get along just fine. There is no envy or whatever and we all do our own thing.
Also, it is perfectly fine to like or dislike anyone's pictures or writing style, we can't all like the same things. I would advise to not let negative comments get to you, but I also know it's not always easy to do. People on the internet can be quite "vocal" let's say

Hi folks, need your help for something. I have sold my Shanling M7 and Tempotec V6, will probably sell off the Gryphon also. I am in search of a new DAP now that will be a portable solution for my iems and my 64 Ohm closed back headphone.

I have isolated two choices - iBasso DX260 and Cayin N7. Now, I am in dilemma over some features of them, namely:
  • N7's 500mW@32Ohm vs. 1015mW@32Ohm of DX260. Is N7 seriously so much underpowered compared to DX260? Will I need an external amp to drive my 64Ohm headphone satisfactorily?
  • N7's DNR 112dB, SNR 116dB, and Channel Separation 110 dB vs. DX260's DNR 133 dB, SNR 133 dB, and Crosstalk 145db. On paper these values are better on DX260 compared to N7. How is it in the actual experience? I am not going into note definition and details as I am assuming it is better on N7, but what about separation, dynamics, transparency, stage expansion? Despite the figures, are they all better on N7?
Looking forward to hear from the experts. I compared the DX260 and M7 and found that the DX260 is more dynamic, more transparent, more neutral but plenty musical, better soundstage depth and separation, and well-extended on both ends.

Dear watercoolers,
some months ago I bought the VE EXT and I'm still in love with them.
Since then I'm searching for a new DAP/DAC/AMP as a new source.
My only one mobile device is the Fiio M11 Pro DAP right now.
I don't want to constantly upgrading my DAP because there are no updates any more and things start to get shady.
So I made the decision to not buy a DAP any more.
While searching for a solution the Ibasso D16 Taipan was released and I immediately thought that this could be the perfect match and that it could be my new source for the next years.

So my questions to you:
Do you think that the DAC pairs well with the VE EXT?
I won't use coax very much. I'll use USB connecting it to my PC , Smartphone, Notebook or Tablet mainly and I'll also use it as an AMP.
No further AMPs. No PB5.
What can I expect upgrading to the D16 comming from an 6 year old AK4497EQ + THX-78 Fiio DAP?
Do you think I'll hear the differences significantly?
I like how the few reviewers / users describe the sound of the D16 with a more natural / analog sounding signature.
Things that bother to my ears that I don't like on the Fiio...got to clinical / forward for me I think.

Thank you

Edit: sorry for my bad english and multiple editing.

Hey all! Just wanted to share some love for the E7. When I got it I was very impressed, but not necessarily in love. It’s a fantastic DAP, by far the most analog DS I’ve ever heard, and the new UI is leagues better than before. Especially the standby battery time, no longer bleeding to death while it’s just sitting there. But it didn’t capture a spot in my heart like my LP6 Ti AE.

All that changed this today. I’ve been using the E7 a lot, but it seems it just needed a lot more breakin than I expected, even for a DS unit it needed over 100hrs + and then boooom. I’m totally floored right now! Im using my Traillii Ti and it's so massive and open, with this killer sub-bass rumble. Fantastic mids and this endless airy top end. The stage feels like it grew 300% overnight! Kind of all of a sudden, everything spread out, got deeper and taller, and the details pop out like crazy. I'm loving this combo! I posted something earlier on, some initial impressions, but I feel I need a short follow up to properly address the magic that is now coming out of this little box. Just goes to show that some gear really just needs some time to settle in, and L&P stuff seems especially prone to lots of burnin.

IMG_3993 (3).jpg

The E7 has some of the largest stages I’ve ever heard in a DAP, with great layering. Like really big, very wide but ultra tall. Bass is nicely textured, with a nice extra touch of sub bass and rumble which is very much appreciated. It's very punchy, but also really enveloping and vast. Mids are clean and clear, very detailed with a hint of warmth and romance, relaxed but not smeary or too gooey and honey'd. Treble is very open, very detailed, with a hint of sparkle up top. Overall the sound is vast, detailed, and very spacious up top. Fantastic balance of technicals and musicality - I know more than one DMP owner who actually prefers the E7 for that type of sound. Pretty strong statement, and while I spent very little time with the DMP, I can understand where he's coming from (now). Sonically it's just amazing, a very analog, dynamic and open sound that is more reference and neutral than other L&P DAPs I have heard before. Where the LP6 AE is bombastic, with insane texture and engagement, punch and very forward mids, the E7 is much more neutral, lighter on its feet, with what seems like deeper bass that leans away from AE's midbass punch and growls instead.

The new UI is a big step up - but don't think it's a modern DAP like others, this is a very basic UI that is music only. The way you can browse you music now is much better, and more seamless. You get a bigger screen so the album art is larger, resolution isn't so different though. The drop-down menu is great and you can access pretty much everything you need on a daily basis. There is also the 3 tuning modes, which are not some EQ thing but a change in the FPGA (or other hardware) from what I'm told. I like LD mode a lot, very even and natural. HD is more dynamic, more open and engaging. They really make a huge difference, and it’s nice to be able to tailor the sound for each IEM. And yes, there is Gapless and a useable search function, hooray! There is a small quirk that when using ID3 tags, the album's songs show up in alphabetical order instead of numeric - but I've know L&P is working on a firmware update right now that will give us that option. They've actually already about 3 new FW's that have all improved the UI as well as sonics.

I really like the volume control - it's more tactile and articulate than the P6 Pro's, and the gold knob is super cool. You can use either the 3.5mm or 4.4mm jack as a LO, though it acts a little different than one would expect. I won't get into it now as I am still researching and asking questions, but in brief it's not a fixed voltage LO, its variable, the volume knob still works, and I haven't gotten good results unless the volume is maxed out. Not sure why L&P opted for such a different implementation on the LO vs their other DAPs, but perhaps things will change in a FW. Or I'm doing something wrong, which is always possible!

In terms of battery life I am quite impressed! We were told about 5 hours when it was announced, but it gets far more than that for sure. After the recent FW updates I would say at least 7-8 with normal use. And interestingly enough, when using the BT Rx streaming the battery lasts even longer. I even watched a movie on a flight the other day, phone on the table, E7 in my lap, super convenient,

Overall I am really super impressed with this little DAP, and even more so now that it's fully opened up and I'm hearing its full potential now. It's so small, light, and easy to use now, you've got to give L&P credit for listening to their audience so much and making changes that are asked for. With my Trailli Ti it brings the Ti more into the neutral territory, while staying incredibly engaging and enveloping. I'm leaving for a two month tour on Saturday and I'm bringing the Ti, using the stock cable for convenience, and the E7. I'm really looking forward to having this time to just get in deep, and have the E7 carry me away into sonic bliss. :) Where before I found it great, now it's stolen my heart, and earned a spot in my permanent roster. In fact, as my AE goes in for the volume pot upgrade and new battery, my solo journey with the E7 will be that much more exciting.

If anyone hasn't heard this beast yet, I highly highly suggest you do. It's phenomenal :) And if you haven't hear the new Ghost-Note record and you're a fan of funk, this is the funkiest record I've heard. :)
