Guys

Hope you all are in fantastic health and spirits

Been busy with work of late haven’t found much time for audio discussions

Here’s a question that I would love to get your responses on…

What IEMs, DAPs, and headphones are you most looking forward to finding out more about, either through first or second-hand impressions, during Canjam Singapore and New York?

Will plan some purchases accordingly!

Thanks in advance
Oh and the Geek World 300 looks very interesting...

ooooooooh 500 buckos for that driver set up is interesting, I'm locked in unless it's catastrophically bad in tuning which I doubt would happen nowadays
faceplate looks cool too

Been looking at Single DD iems recently, and came across the oriolus ISA. What are the general opinions of this iem, do they still hold up?
Relaxed, musical tuning. Works well for vocals. Reminds me of the Meze empyreans with the slightly soft tonality.

They’re sub $1000 and expectations align as such. Cannot expect kilobuck detail or technicality. Comfortable. I very much enjoyed them.

Sold them on head-fi for the simple reason I always reached for the Trailli. Not a fair comparison 🤣

Hi friends,

just a quick post to share very rough impressions about the new EA Code 24C.
A local store just got a demo unit few days ago.

IMG_4488.jpeg

Since it’s hard to judge a cable on its own, I tried to compare to my new Beat Audio Billow Mk2. That’s not really a fair comparison since the Billow is about 6x the price, but that’s what I had on hand to compare to. Although , by experience, price is not everything with cables, since it’s more about a question of synergy than anything else.
Also, my Billow isn’t fully burned in yet but it’s at a reasonable 150h, so it should get somewhat close to what one should expect from it… As for the Code 24C I have no clue if the burn in is done…

Code 24C looks very beautiful! The craftsmanship is excellent. The hardware is well designed with nice finish, modern almost steampunk vibe and sexy purple kind plum color. But more importantly the hardware is fairly lightweight and therefore the Y splitter doesn’t overly introduce the drag effect on the ears. The chin slider also works very nicely and stays where it should. The wires themselves are very thick and still a bit stiff. It’s much better on that aspect than Code 23, but when compared to the 8 braids Billow the difference in stiffness is obvious. It does seem acceptable overall and actually usable, which wasn’t the case for Code 23 IMHO.

For the sound, it does have a nice mature sound with satisfying warmth. It feels a bit mids forward overall with relaxed yet decently detailed trebles and nice rounded bass.
Billow Mk2 in comparison feels more even sounding, with more powerful, tight and textured bass, warm mids with better sense of separation and articulation, and trebles that are airier as well as more detailed. The soundstage feels bigger with more space between instruments.

Of course, all those differences are fairly small when talking about cables, but it is definitely noticeable.
Overall Code 24C sounds like an excellent cable for the price on all aspects! Great job from EA.

That’s it for the dirty impressions… :)

Hiya guys. I hope all of you are doing well 😁 Just like what I said last time, that I'm closing in at the end of my journey of this audio world and I want to share my new toys with all of you here 😉

Meet the Titanium Family 😁
P_20240206_121738_1_1.jpg
Can't say that much about the Trailli Ti because it's just arrived yesterday and I don't have enough time to listen to it. About the Creator, oh boy. Maybe this is the only one in my collections that's worth to be CIEM'ed 😍
I love how analog it's sound and maybe it's sounds cliché but it really is like listening to 2-ch setup 😁
Using Creator there's one thing that I realize. Sometimes you don't need those fancy techs like BCD to fully enjoy the music. The rumble and texture of the good OL DD driver is more than enough at least for me. I have UM AP with me and now it's just a dust collector in my Van Nuys case 🤭

The Legendary Golden Knob

I think this one doesn't need any introduction 🤭
Can't say that much about DMP too because it arrives yesterday too together with the Bird Ti. Was about to enjoy it, but then I realized there's something wrong with it.
P_20240205_154141.jpg
It's bent on arrival and I suspect it's because the mishandling of the carrier. Still waiting for their response and I hope their answer is satisfying 🤞

Estat Goodness Incoming

This is my latest addition to my desktop setup and all that is left is a DAC and I'm done with all audio things (famous last word 🤭). What can I say about this X9K + T8K setups? Well, all I can say that they sounds really great, especially when you mainly listen to orchestra or choral musics. The details on it is amazingly good. Great separation, clean, amazing soundstage, and still sounds musical to me 🥰
I'm using my N30 AP as a source and I can already enjoy it so much. I believe it will be better when using a proper desktop DAC but I'll have to do some research to find the best pairing for it 😉

That's all folks. Now all that is left to me is to enjoy my existing gear and have a good rest like this purple man 😁

Wow man! Awesome!
Those are 2 of my top favorite sets! You’re definitely going to have a blast!
Actually, I’ve never demoed The Creator, but as far as I understand, it’s supposed to be the universal version of the DCTi.
DCTi is absolutely amazing. Really love its warmish analog vibe. I was really hesitating between these as custom and CP622B custom, but when I saw how bothersome it was to get the DCTi, it greatly facilitated my decision in favor of 622B.

For the Sony though, this is crazy! I feel so bad for you! How on earth did they manage to bend a 5mm thick piece of aluminum?! Especially if it was in its box! It doesn’t make sense! It must have been pulled out of the box and dropped on the floor to bend like this!
Anyways, I hope you can get a replacement unit promptly!
I wish you the best!

Cheers guys,

Julien

Fei Wan, new Chord Amp, Mass Kobo 465, new portable/transportable tube amps if any (hopefully with swappable tubes), new cable releases from EA/PW if any.

Portable tube amp market is vastly underserved. Many modern audiophiles have forgotten or never heard the magic of well done tubes and the amount of tuning you can do by changing tubes in a good tube amp is awesome, not a fan of EQ. It's ironic becuase many seem to prefer warm bassy signatures, that's a lot of the magic of tubes and if it's well implemented you can have tremendous resolution as well. Prefer to make changes via tube, cable, dac.

Thinking of getting custom DC Ti too but IIRC it doesn't come with a cable? And I don't know did they sell the Creator cable separately? About the DMP, yeah I suspect they dropped it when they do security check on Japan because I see a chipped part and it seems that they change the original packaging box too 😑

DC Ti doesn't come with a cable. Creator cables sell separately but outside of the Silver 8 (which actually is quite competitive SQ wise, but very uncoloured), the others' SQ are subpar IMO. Better to just grab an Eletech/Brise and reterminate it to Fitear connectors - you have a few months to spare waiting for the DC Ti anyway should you order it.

Ab****ingsolutely

The Isa's been praised a ton on this thread, and rightfully so. I, unfortunately, am one of few who don't jive with its tonality. I find its upper-midrange a bit shouty, and I find it lacking a bit of low-mid presence. So, if you're not a fan of lighter, drier, airier tonalities, then the Isa probably isn't for you. But, if that vibrant, clarity-focused sound is what you're after, then it's definitely worth a go, especially if you can find a decently-priced one in the classifieds.

Thanks for the opinions, yall have definitely convinced me, my preferred sound sig is midrange focused . Definitely worth a demo then, a shame its no longer available at Zeppelin. Will keep a lookout for it at Canjam SG

That Traillii used to be mine :) I bought it from a friend who ordered it from Musicteck with custom faceplates, back when you could order custom design Traillii’s (I don’t think they do custom design anymore but I could be wrong)

I believe @aaf evo also has a friend with the same design. I wonder how many of these are out there in the world. It is such a beautiful piece of art!

I think @Damz87 may be referring to the same person haha, I wasn't sure if the original owner sold it or not. Lovely looking and sounding IEM though!

I think Zeppelin is the distributor for the whole region (@AxLvR?), so if they don't bring it to their CanJam stand you may be out of luck.

Honestly nothing much right now. I've got a small list of things I'm hoping to demo in NYC but nothing I couldn't take or leave at this point. Honestly the WM1Z really tied my world together and lately the more IEMs I hear the more I love the IEMs I already have. My interest in CanJam at this point is mostly for the social/fellowship aspect.

That may change once I hit the show floor and see what new stuff is available for demo, but time will tell there.

All of that said I do feel myself naturally gearing down in this hobby right now.
Finally had the time to listen these 3 Watercooler legends this evening. And I know exactly what you mean by the more IEMs I hear the more I love the IEMs I already have. I feel the same too. Actually, same goes for DAPs as well.

Or even better, try to find a used one on sales.
