My Soundtiger Sinfonia amp came 3 days ago. This is a new release from a relatively unknown manufacturer (On Headfi) Utsusemi-Works from Japan. My first impressions:

Packaging:
Sinfonia comes with an eco-friendly box. Right box is the Afterglow IC.

It was packed well with no visible marks on the device from shipping & handling.

The amp itself has a small footprint. A reference with 475 for scale:

Besides the size, a key difference is the Sinfonia does not have a volume toggle like MK 475. It has to be attenuated via the DAP.

There are two metal screws that pulls the inside tray out to switch out the batteries. I used the manufacturer recommended Fujitsu whites. This lasts about 10 hours from a full charge. 475 in comparison has a back panel that slides in.

Sound impressions:
I picked the two transducers I had the most experience with source rolling. Desolation Sound & XE6. Being $600, I kept my expectactions reasonable.

TGX Desolation Sound -> RS8 -> Sinfonia (preamped):
  • This gave me an immediate connection and wow factor. The mids pull me in 😲. This has a pure, elegant but uplifting sound.
  • Transients became heightened like it came to life. The stage isnt as wide as 475 but I love how well each note became more separated and punctuated.
  • Forward staging is good. Music sounds more three dimensional and contoured.
  • Tuning: 475 is U shaped while Sinfonia tuning is fairly neutral with slightly accented upper mids. This is more reference vs Tsuranagi which I found to add mid bass and lower mids.
Without external amplification: Outside of the summit fi DAPs like 320 Max, N30, 320 Max when I compare daps there are caveats with the intented tonality. Warmer rounded tunings can sacrifice treble extension which loses speed. Faster brighter daps like N8ii can create peaks with the wrong pairing. Sinfonia seems to maintain a linear sound while enhancing technicalities.

After adding Sinfonia: Sub bass quanitity remains similar but becomes harder and more condensed. Female vocals gain this organic but ethereal quality while having a similar note size. Treble gains extention without thinning out.

Needless to say super impressed with it so far. It is giving me 475 levels of enjoyment albeit a different sound profile. There is something special going on here which I suspect is due to the absense of a volume knob. The black background and imaging reminds me of SP3K. More tests with different configurations (and ICs) once I find the time.

I hear this is a place to talk cables. What do you guys like for cables for iem? I just mainly want some nice 3.5mm and .78 2 pin connectors.
Budget ? 🤔😉

Iem ? Can you be more specific ? 👍

Your tastes ? 🙏

Isa has been one of my favorites but I recently acquired the Dita Perpetua and it’s like the Isa x 10. Mid range is best I’ve heard from any IEM (Including MM and Phonix LE)….instrument separation/imaging and staging is solid. It’s quickly become one on my top 3 purchases ever. It’s s ingle 12mm DD so the notes have tons of depth and 3d like. Very smooth and relaxed listening. Almost every evening I look at my IEM collection and almost always pull out the Dita at least to start. I’ve always wanted to hear the Trailli, I’ve tried the rest of the Orioles lineup and was mostly disappointed.
Glad the Perpetua had such an impression on you. Its an incredibly underrated IEM still but I also hear its always sold out so I am sure it has its fans. Its in my top 3-4 for sure.

Sharing how I store my current collection...
...and honestly just trying to distract myself from all the tempting sales around :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Happy weekend + 11.11!

For those interested, this is the Effect Audio Chamber carrying case. When I need more space, I'm planning to upgrade to one of these Van Nuys "wide" case with 10x10cm slots: https://vannuys.co.jp/e045/
