If you believe that it degrades the sound quality, of course it does. As an electrical engineer though, I have a different approach about how things work.
Additional connectors=resistance, let alone the addition of a modular connector that is not hard wired into the modular pieces being attached.

I'll add, just in case, that it is a proven fact that additional resistance can alter the fr, depending on how much resistance is added.

Yes. Not controversial - not even opinion

Sorry, I forgot that audiophiles can hear the difference between 15 ohms and 15.0000001 ohms. Just like they can hear the difference between 1.2m cable and a 1.2000001m cable. That's why they sometimes return their cables with the complaint that it is 1nm too long. Why didn't I remember that... Sorry.

Maybe it is best when the audiophiles tie the DAP around their head and reduce the cable length to 10cm each side. I am sure that will give a lot larger stage and more micro dynamics to inaudible noise ratio.

Joking. I am out of this discussion.

Do you have a link to the cable by any chance? Thanks

1) EXT
2) Odyssey
3) XE6
Nice one! Love for Odyssey! I felt bad not including it and love it. Would be in my top 5!

One of my references was my wife's own music (I have been hearing her voice 15 years now, and I think I know it quite well, and I heard this album just far too many times, so I know what to expect). I think this is a well made album, so nothing sticks out. Even that hot treble. I think Ragnar does an excellent job with this album. Even the bell around 3:36 wasn't sharp.
This is just lovely!

Honestly, for me, having had many TOTL DAPs and the Hugo TT2, you are talking about sound preferences at that level. TOTL DAPs aren't magically better because they are made with IEMs in mind, and neither are desk top systems just because they are more expensive. The examples you cite are at the top of the game, but they do each have a specific sound signature. The SP3000, to cite your example, is quite different sounding from the TT2, so you would probably want to think about if you are looking for some different emphasis in the sound or looking to synergize with a specific set of IEMs before you consider whether it's a DAP or a desktop (again as long as you are playing at the top most level of things). The obvious advantage of a DAP would be portability. Impedance can become an issue with desktops systems designed more for headphones and not sensitive IEMs, etc.
I get your point about different sound signature but how can impedance of TT2 affect jewel or mentor iem negatively because output impedance of 0.04 ohm of TT2 is lower than 1.8 ohm in 4,4 on SP3k. So sensitive TOTL IEMS should sound even better on TT2, no? Do i miss something?
