That was a great read, thank you. Totally agree with your assessment of Mass Kobo and Phatlab Phantasy II, the latter I think is especially overlooked for its timbre. Since you're in Korea, may I suggest you seek out Bakoon HDA-5230 distributed from Bakoon Mania in Seoul. It has a unique character and performance which is unlike any other portable amp I've heard.

Bakoon HDA-5230 is a highly reputable Amp that is very well regarded in the Korean community. I'm surprised that you know about this amplifier, as I didn't think it would have any international exposure.

I'm a Bakoon nerd/addict, so I had dig a little to get hold of one. And I'm truly grateful I did! But yes, Bakoon Japan - Satri Circuit Laboratory - is largely overlooked outside of Japan and Korea. A great shame, if you ask me. But then again, perhaps it makes it all the more special.

Thank you for your kind suggestion.
Bakoon Mania is not that far from my home, so I should visit there to try HDA-5230 sometime soon :)

4th Place

The following IEMs are tied for 4th place with 3 votes each:

Oriolus Traillii
Subtonic Storm
FAudio Mezzo

I was not surprised to see Traillii fall so low, in the end it was not one set that took the crown away, it took multiple sets to do it, no single bird killer the little bird was ganged up on.

I thought it had amazing bass but I struggled with fit (as always with bullet IEMs) and the rest of the FR. Plenty of notable people really like it. I saw @Stuff Jones had a favorable impression of it also. As always, YMMV.

Yeah I picked up a used pair recently. They're the best all 'rounder DD with solid technical chops I've heard. They lack the usual exhausting upper mids/lower treble peakinessthat I've found in other higher end DDs. Fit can be an issue though. In the end I found the stock tips worked best for me FWIW.

to own 2 sets of IEMs and DAPs only, discover more songs that I'd love, and more importantly improve my work-life balance.
I've resolved myself to one DAP, three IEMs maximum (one that hits the low end with a fun sound, one that's super technical, and one that's a happy middle ground). I don't want to keep collecting tech (as much fun as that is in it's own right). I just want to enjoy more music. What I need are less fires at work that necessitate phone calls so I can spend that much more time listening at my desk.
