Hey guys! I'm new here and someone recommended me the watercooler thread for this. Best All-Rounder Setup under $3,000?

A little about me. I'm 21 right now, a student in Tokyo and studying music composition. I am looking for a one and done all-rounder for my library.

My Library for reference: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/softears-volume-s.27823/reviews#review-37944

The IEMs I'm really keen on at the moment are: Forte Ears Macbeth, Alpha Omega Omega & Thieaudio Valhalla [All Used]. I'd really like to demo them if possible but I'm not sure if that's possible in Tokyo except Valhalla. I'm open for other recommendations and opinions. I like a balanced-warm signature as I listen to recordings and study them for more than 6 hours on a daily basis, so something too energetic is not what's best for me.
I’m probably not the best person to give advice as I haven’t tried all the new iems yet. But we have very similar music tastes and I’m a student as well. I’d recommend a used u12t and the dx340 and maybe a nice upgrade cable. If the dx340 is too heavy to commute with, I’d say use the extra money to get the IFI go pod or a smaller dap like the dx180.

I feel like Noble churns out IEMs…
They said they will release a cheaper version of Chronicle soon, with only the faceplate made from damascus Ti. Im not going to complain about that...especially if it maintains the same sound.

Scraped together the cash for the best IEM i've heard at Highend Munich, which also accompanies my APX SE like no other IEM i've heard - the Softears Enigma. The mids were just intoxicating and so rich, forward and aggressive, but at the same time so smooth without any hint of shout or sibilance. I actually came back a second time to hear it and was still really impressed. I also just love that they use the Exocet font on the box which also got used in Diablo 2 - JahIthBer
Can't wait until it arrives.

Because of this big purchase, Hifigo did send me a 20$ gift card which i've no use for.
One of you can have it, first comes, first serves.

Appreciate everyone’s ideas. I ended up pulling the trigger on Shanling MG800. Got a great deal for a new one at HiFiGo. I was considering using my Dita Mecha but it sits along with Moses, Perpetua as an all time fav so I don’t want to thrash them

Thanks to everyone who responded—really appreciate the insights.
I wanted to share some quick feedback for my fellow audio friends here. My goal was to find an affordable IEM I’d feel comfortable taking anywhere—especially during street photography sessions—without worrying about damaging something too precious. I’m happy to report that the Shanling MG800 hit the mark. Priced at $679 I found it to be a bargain.

Here are a few thoughts, especially in comparison to two other single dynamic driver IEMs I use frequently: DITA Mecha and DITA Perpetua.

Shanling MG800 Overview:
The MG800 leans warm-to-neutral in tonality. Using the “neutral” filter, it delivers tight, monstrous bass, thick mids, and a relaxed treble—exactly the sound I was looking for. I haven’t explored the other filters yet, but even stock, this little IEM punches way above its size with a rich, full-bodied sound.

Compared to Dita Mecha:
The Shanling’s upper mids are noticeably smoother, taming some of the Mecha’s energy. Bass impact is comparable, but the MG800’s is tighter and more controlled. Mecha’s bass feels more visceral and rumbly. Vocals on the Mecha are a bit more forward and textured, but I didn’t realize how energetic its upper mids were until I switched to the Shanling. The MG800 also casts a wider soundstage with better instrument separation overall.

Compared to DITA Perpetua:
Honestly, this wasn’t a fair fight—at least by my preferences. The Perpetua excels across the board: wider stage, more defined bass, smooth and creamy mids, and beautifully clear treble without any harshness. While Mecha and Shanling both present a more forward bass, the Perpetua’s quality and coherency with the mids and highs is superior.

So, I found my street photography IEM, Shanling MG800. I would have never discovered this IEM if it were not for your insights. Thank you.

If you're looking for a one and done IEM I think the FF Grand Maestros would be a great choice since it has 4 different tunings with its vocal switch + different Noah modules. Its also incidentally imo one of the best basshead IEMs on the market with the vocal switch + black module.

Based on this post I was about giving suggestion for Vision Ear VE10 or MA Alter Ego. However,

I have all my library as Vinyl or Cd Rips on a 512GB micro-SD, though they are mostly classical recordings so 16bit-44.1khz is most common. I have some new remasters by Klemperer and Solti in 24-192khz though and they are phenomenal.
Based on this post, just go straight to Macbeth. I think it's close to impossible (if not impossible) for any $3K IEMs that can compete with Macbeth for classical music.

Not a poll, but I am just curious about what everyone thinks is the best for an iem in different categories (regardless of $$$/source/cable/tips). If you can explain why, that will be great:

a) Neutral and/or Balanced
b) V-shaped and/or U-shaped
c) L-shaped/Bass head
d) W-shaped
e) Soundstage
f) Vocals
g) Treblehead
h) Others
a. U12T, CP74E - TBH, can't think of neutral/balanced summit-fi at the moment. I haven't heard Storm yet
b. APX SE (Best V-Shaped atm), Grand Maestro (APX SE Lite Version)
c. Duality (for L-Shaped), Fugaku (Bass is the best in an IEM followed by APX SE & Grand Maestro)
d. Jewel (Clean W-Shaped), Phonix/LE (Thick W-Shaped), Traillii (Between Clean and Thick W-Shaped)
e. Fugaku (Spherical with Best Sense of Height), Grand Maestro with SS Module (Open/Spacious), AME Mousa (Most Enveloping)
f. Jewel (Forward/Clean type), Erlkonig #4 (Lush/Thick), Traillii (Lush but Forward)
g. Annihilator (linear, smooth, pronounced treble), Odin (sheer mid-treble resolving power), Jewel (linear, relaxed, dense treble)
h. Flat tonality - Dita Perpetua (just flat & mellow)

A. Subtonic Storm with proper set up
B. Forte Ears Macbeth
C. Nightjar Duality
D. MystiCraft Hex
E. Elysian Dio + Effect Audio Apex (For "typical" soundstage of IEM). While for imaging size of each instrument, Fugaku is simply the biggest one.
F. Muxicbox Steranko 40
G. I'm truly far away from being treble head, perhaps not eligible to vote. Anyway, I think Aroma Jewel suit this role well.
H. Brise Audio Fugaku, the most "headphone alike" IEM, come with balance-warm character and provide really solid density of each notes. Sound unlike any other IEMs in the market.

I have a question :)
I already have DX340 and RS8. Is there a reason for me to get a P6p? Does it sound different from RS8?
