FlipEars was a pleasent surprise for me in this CanJam NewYork 2025
I absolutely enjoyed the Arsenal Legion.
The fit was about perfect for my ears, the great sound, and the reasobable price, really got me thinking: why spend so much money on expensive iems, when we can get the Legion.

And let’s not forget about the FlipEars Aurora another delightfully surprise. It may come with a higher price tag, but you can get it custom with a lot of plate colors and design options is definitely worth it!

For those are planning to buy another iem or ciem, I strongly suggest taking a try FlipEars.
FlipEars seems to be making a strong impression. The Legion definitely sounds like a great value pick.
Will defo keep FlipEars on my radar. Did you get a chance to compare them to any other IEMs you’ve tried before?
Fulgrim had some of the thickest bass I’ve heard but was offset by excellent mids and treble detail. A really outstanding set that I probably would want to own if I didn’t have the Fugaku.
definitely sounds like a powerhouse... with that thick bass balanced by solid mids and treble, like it hits hard without muddying the overall presentation? If it’s making you consider it despite owning the Fugaku, says alot...

Wait until you hear the EpicAudio Incontinence and Encaphalorrhagia.
The Encephalorrhagia was one of my highlights for sure! I didn’t listen to the others though. Now I wish I had. That one, Storm and the Satin stick out in my head as the favs of the show. And now I’ve heard the PMG APX SE so have to add it to the top tier list.

Won’t go too much into write ups… for me the new standouts were the Elysian Dio, Alpha Omega Fulgrim, the Hercules Audio Moses, UM Jet black & MT collab, and Forte Ears prototype.

Dios tuning is borderline perfection imo. Deep sub bass, forward vocals and the most beautiful but natural treble detail I’ve heard without being fatiguing or “in the way”, just excellent stuff. I feel it’s a tad short in techs compared to sets like the Fugaku, Storm, and Apx Se, but if you want an Elysian sound that isn’t as energetic as Anni but (imo) has more natural timbre than X.. the Dio is the answer.

Fulgrim had some of the thickest bass I’ve heard but was offset by excellent mids and treble detail. A really outstanding set that I probably would want to own if I didn’t have the Fugaku.

The Hercules Audio Moses was also very memorable and I would have been tempted to buy one if Ben had extra stock on the show floor. Damn you @tfenton02 ! Big bass with a rich sound and lots of upper mid and treble detail. I did find occasionally on already energetic songs that it could lean a tad too much upper mid for me but overall this is an amazing sounding iem with great build quality to boot too. I give it 3-4 months before this is probably all over the watercooler thread. 🤷🏽‍♂️

The MEST jet black imo is the best sounding version of the IEM yet. I find indigo and MK2 a tad bright, Mk3 a little dull.. but jet black seems to find that middle ground between them all. The mid range is excellent and spacious sounding also. For $1700 or whatever I honestly felt it was a steal.

The UM MT prototype collab was also awesome. It had a very resolving but balanced sound that was reminiscent of the Storm but perhaps a tad less dynamic and punchy overall. Great stuff and can’t wait to see how this ends up in its final form.

Lastly the latest prototype from forte ears was also excellent. I believe it’s priced less than the Macbeth but I found the tuning a bit more natural and organic. Deep and impactful bass with great detail and pacing, natural mid range and good treble detailing. My feedback was to perhaps drop the treble “energy” about 2-3dB but overall the foundation of the sound was strong!

The new toys are exciting to hear, but the memories I’m making with are what now very close friends are honestly priceless. For anyone that I spent time with this weekend whether it was a quick convo on the show floor or pounding espresso martinis… I had an amazing time so thank you all for an amazing weekend! Each CanJam is more and more special and I can’t wait for SoCal!

How did your IC demo for Fugaku go?

There was one I tried at the NightJar booth that I liked, I don’t know if it’s a production item yet but it was a thick solid core IC than had more of a mid-forward sound compared to the mild U shape of the Shiro IC. I didn’t think the difference in synergy was large enough though to warrant buying it and selling the Shiro though.. that's a lot of effort I don't care to deal with. :joy:

There was a lot of other good sets too that I am too lazy to write about.. but Symphonium Giant was excellent for a warm/smooth sound that had solid detail to go with it as well. I think it's one dd one ba and it was one of my fav tuned sets in the show... just effortless sounding.

I also tried that $8k Epic Audio IEM, it wasn't bad at all, actually it was fairly solid but that price tag ain't it.

I ended up buying one of the two Moses Hercules brought to the show. It wowed me at first demo. I spent 3 subsequent sessions with them. And I wasn’t looking for an IEM. I will post impressions in a bit, but there are much richer, top to bottom vs MacBeth. I find the tuning to be quite opposite.

Hi, quick question for those who attended Can Jam:

Anyone have impressions on the Soft Ears MusicTeck Prototype that combines DD, BA, EST, BCD and Planar drivers?
Anyone listen to the NiPO N2 DAP? I'm just trying to get a sense of how much more powerful it is vs LP as I like the fact it streams and looks very ergonomically slim.

Thanks and hope everyone had as good of a time as it looks like you had!

Looking forward to read more impressions from Canjam, I bet some writeups will appear soon. Envious of the Fulgrim demo, I really loved the Omega and only thing that was problematic for me was fit.

Need to travel to a Canjam soon, will probably be London as its closest and cheapest to travel to. Though as I understad it's not as impressive as the others?

The last months been busy and I almost have no time for audio, the little time I have goes to reviews... But lucky enough for me it has been some sweet stuff like Astrolith, M8T and Mega5est Bass+. Still waiting patiently for Valhalla to be shipped (or impatiently is more correct 👀)

Is there a website or informaiton on these Epic IEM's yet? I'm not seeming to find anything on them. Thanks.
