100% The big brothers to the Terra were great! I really want to spend more time with them.
Something better than the Terra?! I'm fell in love with that IEM. Hopefully Lime Ears will be at CanJam SoCal, so I can try a few of their other IEMs out? @He_Is_Emil, will you or a rep for LE be at CJSoCal?

Oh yeah, I think you’ll like them if you loved the Terra. The middle sibling, while good, I will say didn’t do it as much for me, but the big, big brother to the Terra was quite good! You’ll have to check it out, hopefully Emil will have them at CJ So Cal because I certainly want to spend more time with them.

Eletech Fifth Ode Impressions

IMG_1842.jpeg

I've been looking for a cable to pair with my 622B since I've gotten it and I had the opportunity to pair it with Eletech's Fifth Ode courtesy of MusicTeck.

Fifth Ode presents music on a massively wide and tall stage that allows for a truly engaging and immersive listen. The depth isn't quite as impressive as the seemingly boundless width and grand height, but the depth is excellent still.

Fifth Ode imbues the entire frequency ranges with a slight analogue overcast and the midrange possesses a pleasant bokeh-like quality that both draws the listener in and preemptively mitigates any vocal harshness or sibilance.

Fifth Ode's sound has a highly refined feel compared to the Vanguard 4W (my usual pairing) which is an excellent cable in its own right. Fifth Ode has a composed nature and therefore doesn't come off as immediately vivacious or energetic. Instead, it has a charming and emotionally expressive allure, all while retaining impressive clarity and technicalities.

Fifth Ode has impressive layering and microtexturing abilities but handles itself in a self-assured and quietly confident manner. It's never brash or gritty in the way it resolves notes but injects just enough voltaic zest to keep things engaging.

Fifth Ode's price tag isn't for the faint hearted. However, those lucky enough to have the means and timing (only 150 in existence) to add it to their collection are receiving an endgame worthy cable full of character and with stunning hardware and accessories to boot.

In a few days time I should also be receiving demos of Brise Orochi Ultimate and Shirogane 8W which I'll share impressions of here as well. Thanks for reading.

Work etc has got in the way of the hobby for me lately, and not had much time to visit Head-Fi, or indeed even spend much time with music... which is rather painful. But life goes on, and the hobby still finds a way to infiltrate parts of my life... for example:
  1. Sold my DX340, the GT2 is the winning DAP for me lately (but the DX340 is still spectacular, and deserves the hype)
  2. First purchase of 2025 is not an IEM but a set of headphones... Austrian Audio 'Composer' ordered today and can't wait
  3. I tried Clara last week... very nice set, but not sure I'll take the plunge - my usual Camelot benchmark issue kicks in
  4. Published a review today for the NiceHCK 'NX8' - a lower priced set for this part of Head-Fi, but it would be wrong of me not to mention in my updates! Review HERE
  5. On the subject of reviews, I have a few left to do and then absolutely pushing hard on the brakes... it has been fun testing a whole bunch at various price points, but with a busy job etc, it takes away from my musical enjoyment - perhaps a slower approach again in the future
  6. The few moments I've had with my second purchase of the IER-M9 have been wonderful, absolutely a keeper along with the likes of IE900, Turii Ti, Camelot...
  7. Looking forward to Paris in a few weeks... who's going?!
Congrats David, Composer is a great HP!!!
I’m trying to save and get a new “Can” too, but I’m more oriented on DCA closed back aeon Noire X or Aeon noire OG.
Lately I hadn’t time to enjoy my sets as I want but latter sesh with QDC Fusion and WM1AM2 was great 😊

Been eyeing up all the eletech cables and keep going back and forth between them and the PW Audio stuff. Both are equally well built and I don't think I can go wrong with either. But you're write up is fantastic. Pushing me in that direction for sure.

Hey there!

Exciting news - we now have the latest Oriolus Traillii TI Dragon Faceplate available!
However, the not-so-great news is that it comes with a hefty price tag of over $10,000 and a waiting period of at least six months to get your hands on it! 🤪

Does anyone have more up-to-date information than what's on Musicteck?

As far as I know it’s literally a Traillii Ti just with the dragon on the faceplate.. nothing “new”, looks damn gorgeous though!

Save the $4,000 extra for the dragon faceplate, buy the regular Ti, and get a MacBeth, Ragnar, Enigma, or Raven with the saving!!

I will bring them with me to Canjam NYC, so find me, you can listen to your heart's content. I will say this, I too fell in love with the Maris, and that's coming from someone with both Rival and Macbeth! And Maris is beautiful!

Second, while I had low expectations, the Incognita was beautifully tuned and, at its price point, should be spectacular for the hobby! It's a definite Clara competitor at a few hundred less!

I'm not kidding when I say Lime Ears is back with a vengeance!

Reviews can easily ramp up and then take over your enjoyment and free time.... Been trying to balance it, but most often say yes to more than what I'm comfortable with.

I am setting aside one day per week to listen to my favorite sets, still not enough. It is fun with new stuff also, but the new toy dopamine rush on reviews stuff falls of fast..

Also congrats on the new headphone, it's a great one 💯

I am still probably going to Paris, and have to buy tickets soon. Just some issues with the week it's at, as I should have used that weekend to prepare for my moving.

The Maris is in his post. It’s the first picture with the blue, sparkly faceplate.
Not a prototype, but not yet released. Will be soon!
