Ah... that's the thing. I have not. :) Hence, no skin in the game. But I did have the Fugaku for a few days.

Can the amplifier be used with other iem?

That must be a record! Quite the 24 purge! Here's an AI's interpretation of you getting ready for the sale.

I'm jealous of your custom Mini. That IEM is so fun!

This one will either be really great or a big disappointment. I'm REALLY hoping for the former for your sake 😉

I think you'll enjoy them but I doubt they will be better than the Project M or Oracle III or really anything else you've kept. They just sound boring to me.

I never knew I needed a glasses holder like this until now 🤔

Interested? Very!
Have the funds? Not a chance 😅
Think you meant to reply to this in the DiscoThread and not here in Watercooler.
Nbd though. 😅

What are some of the sub-$1K BCD sets out right now?

I’d definitely like to try one for myself to see how they stack up against DD hybrid sets.

AüR Aehta. Their best IEM to date and quite competitive in the 1-2k price range imo.

Nope. It just does not suit my use case. Further, I'm more of a FitEar customs kinda guy. :(

A single company started all of this crazy price for iem due to its popularity before but imo this trend should stop. Looking at fugaku price show that some people actually support these pricing behavior. I hear many blind buying fugaku which is insane. Also i hear the review from people i know, fugaku isnt that great (im sorry for those who blind buy it).

Rather similar development in mechanical keyboards hobby - just earlier. Lots of hyperexpensive very similar designs and exclusive editions hyped up by vendors and „reviewers“ / influencers. Now the scene is at its bottom, second hand prices plummeted to 1/3 of retail or more and nothing sells, people leaving the hobby and only super budget market is still somewhat healthy. On the bright side - the budget stuff became really good.
My point, if the trend continues we are likely to see similar developments with IEMs.

Indeed. If you want the quality of a $6k IEM in a $3k IEM you can either buy the former today or the latter 2 years from now. And if you want a $6k IEM for $3k within 6 months you buy it second hand. There's a solution for everyone.

Unfortunately I didn't see too many Storms for 3k 😕
What you're saying is right, but not necessarily for the top ones. Of course, a second hand Traillii does not cost 5K, but they've been around for longer. But those produced in limited numbers will remain hard to come by and expensive.

Luckily though, the cheaper ones or shall I say, less expensive, are becoming better and better. You just need time with them, which is not easy. Not where I live, in any case.

2 years ago I could buy Traillii for $3k, and not just one but plenty.

Storm still isn't produced in any regular way after 1.5 years after its introduction so we can't really blame the market for not reaching that price reduction. I think what I wrote holds in general, but like always there will be some exceptions. Not sure that would invalidate the general promise. Let's see what the future brings ;-)

And that is the market strategy, raise the price, call it a special edition, artificially limit the numbers to push the FOMO, somewhat stabilising second hand pricing. We saw it with AP, Trailli Ti and recently APX SE.

It was pretty much the same in the mech keyboards scene till the bubble imploded.

Wasn't trying to invalidate your point, I think you're spot on. Just raising awareness, if you really like something, get it now, even if overpriced, there are no warranties. Assuming you can afford it, obviously.
I couldn't get the APX now, so I'll have to wait. Maybe it'll be produced in large quantities, maybe not. If I'll manage to get one cheaper in the future, even better. If not, tough luck!
I'm a bit reckless, live now, worry later. Midlife crisis?! 😀

I believe the sharply increased prices can be seen almost everywhere, reflecting inflation, the inflated stock and real estate markets. There are a lot more people, especially in Asia, with much more money than before. Limited editions and the FOMO they cause have been working for a long time (like in the high-end fashion or watch markets) and, unfortunately are increasingly being used in our hobby as well.
I think many customers feel alienated by companies' pricing and release policies, and that money isn't as easy to spend for many as it was during and shortly after the pandemic.

Would like to know the margin on those high end releases.

Im now just using the stock cable, which I HATE

Then why don't you change the cable and find out?
I'm curious to hear if anyone else has tried them together before I change.
At risk of stating the obvious, that's about as ****** a comment as I've read on here for a very long time. Nothing personal but 🫣

Honestly one of the funniest things I've read on the Watercooler in a very long time 😂😂
