Penon-Renata.jpg

I've just compared the impressive new $269 Penon Renata to the Effect Audio Code 24 & Liquid Links Venom - you're invited to read my full review here.
I bought Renata as well, but the ergonomics is really not good, could be the biggest deal breaker for many.

It's very nice. I expected to just say meh and pass it up but I keep going back to it. It's natural, impactful, yet with good clarity.

Here's my measurement comparing it with my Traillii (Ignore the 8kHz peak. It's a coupler resonance that moves with insertion depth). Amazing from a single 10mm DD.

I'm in the same boat. I bought this as a collector's item, as many know I do not use UIEM anyway, but the significance of qdc collaborating with FitEar got me excited. I wasn't expecting much for the price point, and when I got it I wasn't immediately blown away. After swapping tips and letting it burn in, I can confidently say that this is a set I'm genuinely enjoying. Still want to give it more time and maybe do some AB to eventually give some more detailed impressions, but it's a solid IEM.

I am pretty sure that Noir uses the same drivers differently. One of the two BA drivers for the highs of the standard versions is used for the mids instead. So two mid BA, one high BA on Noir.
I just checked and, yes, it seems you're correct. I could've sworn the OG Pilgrim was a 1+2 hybrid, while the Noir's a 1+3. One of those Mandela Effect scenarios, I guess, and it makes the Noir's price hike seem even less appealing. :D

Alright, bliss is quite good with IEMs indeed. Some fun days of testing ahead✌️

Damn nice! Please share your findings 😄
I was doing modded mass kobo 475 to desktop Wandla/Hypsos. Curious myself if I’m gonna prefer the bliss

I've a been a fan of Taylor Deupree and his 12k label for many years - his album 'Stil.' from 2002 gets regular play... I was delighted to see this remake recently released, an acoustic re-imagining of the original electronic album - immediate Steve Reich vibes and while certainly reminiscent of the original, definitely sounds fresh too.

Please also try the XLR output using an XLR to 4.4mm adapter. I use one by DDHIFI from amazon.
Mostly using Traillii, not sure if 2ohm is significant enough. Still 17ohm with high Z gives nice colouration. Tried just for a sec though. Had that adapter a while ago and sold it, time to rebuy:)

I have used both with Traillii, not that I was actually comparing.

I also left the Bliss in Low Z as was using HPs and like the sound with Traillii that way.

@Ojisan and @Sifo, have either of you heard the original Superior from QDC? Interested in this EX version but would be nice to know how it shapes up against the original.

Some classic IDM, possibly the first album I'll listen to on an incoming set :zipper_mouth:

I tried to take the train to Zürich today and ended up in a 10 hour odyssey which led me back to my place in the end. It was raining a lot and Deutsche Bahn did not enjoy the weather, apparently. I did not enjoy Deutsche Bahn.

This one is called gridt, I made it for an album of a buddy, which never released.
Here is some music that kind of fits the vibe:
