Good afternoon. I’m looking for impressions on Oriolus Monachaa. There seems to be very little excitement around it since release. I love my Trifecta for classic rock genre but with the quad drivers am I barking up the right or wrong tree because I sense a genuine lack of enthusiasm for it or not enough people have it yet to comment? Thanks in advance Tom

Well it was just released properly a few days ago so there hasn't been enough time for impressions to acrew. A number of folks, myself included, have been very enthusiastic about it. It's biggest issue is that it's another of these IEMs that is really hard to drive. There is definite Oriolus secret sauce present though. Why don't you sign up for the tour?

Hi guys,
I’m looking for a IEM with the same holographic presentation and bass slam of my Trifecta, but with a slightly more neutral presentation regarding the upper mids and treble. Any ideas?
I’d say Z1R or EVO. Both have very good staging and bass slam. Treble (Z1R) and upper mids (EVO) are elevated but more ‘neutral’ than Trifecta imo. Xe6 is a candidate as well.

Most of the hype for VE X came earlier this year at CanJam SG. It was known as the red prototype then, and the VE X has the exact same frequency response, but achieved with new, updated drivers. I got to hear the production model this past weekend at PAPI 2023, and it was in my top 3 with the Fei Wan and the Canpur 622B. Instead of a VE 8 bottom-half mixed with an ELYSIUM top-half as I described in Singapore, I feel the final version is now a more coherent blend of the two. It’s got the addictively-earthy, soulful textures of the VE 8 with the finesse and air of the ELYSIUM. It’s a warm, yet extremely-nuanced IEM. It won’t compete with the FW or the 622B in spaciousness or cut, but it’s one of the most natural, most life-like IEMs I’ve heard in recent memory. Drums on the VE X are how I want to mix all my drums to sound.

By the way, ‘sorry my impressions from that show are a little late. I’ve been a bit… pre-occupied. 😊

Congrats! Where to spend your honeymoon?

Great impressions, making that VEX mighty interesting. And even better impressions from a big day - congrats!

I just bought the Penon Quattro 4 DD instead of Monachaa 🤣
Me, too! Penon and their DDs, I couldn't resist. As I'll have the tour Monacha soon, I'll be able to compare them!

Really looking forward to some real time with Monacha...liked the demos at CJ but it needed more time to really understand how the Oriolus sauce would manifest. Thanks for the note on power...this is such a strange thing with iems. Like with the Elysians, if you're not flooding them with power, they don't show. Contrast to the 90% of my other IEMs, including Xe6, which are very easy to drive to their potential.

I'd pick a 15 year old Jadis or Audio Research over anything recent if I could buy them at 15 year old prices!

After my 3 COVID "sessions" my ear canals stayed swollen / super tight for 3-4 weeks. Wondering if anyone else had similar problems?

The one time I had Covid, I didn’t get much ear/sinus/lungs congestion so I could use IEMs ok. But I was just so tired and lethargic that I didn’t really want to; I could hear music but not listen to it properly at all, like there was this unsettling disconnect between my eardrums and brain.

Penon Quattro does not seem to be on their website yet, where did you buy it from?

Mark, if you own the Penon Serial (3DD) - would be a very interesting comparison, too...

Hi,

You should try this :

https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/CWU-GECL-Eartips-Isolating-Prevent-Enhanced/dp/B0991RL358?th=1

L size (fits ML).
My personal reference, by far, now for a few years... but you need to fit and it's expensive (but durable : not the case of the Xelastec, which are colored too... and more confortable and durable and less colored than the Symbio) :beerchug:
Thanks a lot. Very interesting idea this Gel fited in the tips. I may try to get some to test.

I see you are from France (like me), how did you managed to get them ? Did Amazon JP shipped to France ?
