Love all music people are posting...it's impressively diverse yet strangely unified :)

My discovery/rec this week is a bit of a change of gears, under the influence of Onyx I think.

It's funny how that works.

get shrink ray worst case you trade it with me for a solaris 2020/dorado 2020, you can't lose! *wink wink*

Acquiring the Duo has muted my interest in anything over $1K until I can get my hands on an EXT. I'm very curious to hear impressions from someone who's heard the Shrink Ray though.

Thanks for all the great music posts, everyone.

since Mexico City possibly tops my list of safest places I travel I guess I should stay the course and keep my list as is
I'm sorry for the late reply, I got tied up with work the last few days.

Yes, I agree. As far as huge cities go, especially those in countries that aren't rich, Mexico City's pretty safe. It's just a matter of routine caution for me - I've spent time in less safe and much more chaotic places (I grew up in several and got used to taking certain basic precautions).

I'm now back to commuting regularly on public transportation again. I've gotten used to shallow-fit IEMs with my Andro '20 and OG Solaris, which means the Massdrop Plus are becoming too uncomfortable for me. I might have to try out the Kato, then, as an affordable alternative, although the polished, shiny one might be too blingy. I hope they don't abandon the matte version.
I keep coming back to Mexico and Mexico City, and every time I pick a different neighbourhood to stay for a couple of weeks. Probably my 10th or so visit over 20 years and it's one of my favourite cities worldwide. It's actually more 10-15 completely different towns and cities in one which makes it really interesting
It's one of my favourites, as well, and like NYC, it's especially great for walking around. I've lived in several parts of the city but would love to spend more time Coyoacan or San Angel. My work takes me down there quite often.

I'm currently in one of my other favourites: Querétaro and will then move to my favourite Morelia
They're great towns, Morelia is especially beautiful. Oaxaca City is another beautiful colonial-era town, and I'm keen to go exploring up north.

Sorry everyone for the off-topic!

Yeah I'm close to pulling the trigger on the 7hz Timeless... these 'lower cost' options are incredibly easy to knee jerk purchase!

Look forward to hearing impressions of Kato, I'm certainly impressed with Moondrop following the recent arrival of Chaconne.

Yeah the degree of quality you can get these days at increasingly lower prices is really quite something. I've struggled to connect with some of the Moondrop IEMs I've heard in the past (A8, S8, Blessing 2, Dusk) but I owned the Kanas Pro once and really liked it and given all the great things I've heard about the Kato...well at that price it's hard not to just take a chance.

Kato and Timeless are the two IEMs creating a buzz. There are reviews to be found, but the best Timeless one is Crin's You Tube one.

My shopping list for November thru January 22.
Shanling M9 AKM SE
Shanling M6 Pr0 21
VE EXT
I sent Andrew an email asking about best times to buy what for best price.

@Stuff Jones & @shotgunshane's endorsement of the Kato compelled me to take a look. I probably should have at least one dedicated neutral IEM in my collection and this seems like a good bet...a single DD to boot.

I'll certainly be tempted by the AKM M9. It's a hefty chonk though...notably bigger than the M8.

@Mehran do you have the IE900 yet?

I hoped Andrew was able to let me demo Isa in Mexico but that seemed to be a logistical and tax nightmare with high transport costs on top of that. Was worth trying though.

I must say the final product is much nicer looking than the earlier incarnations. Amazing what design and visuals can do to your purchase motivation.

If they can maintain the same level of SQ while providing a snappier interface and newer version of Android...it will be very tempting.

So the dealer couldn't keep his promise and they told me the IE900 wouldn't be shipped for at least another 2 weeks, so I had to cancel the order. I might go for something else now. Duo, EXT even Phöni, who knows . It's going to be more fun reading the impressions now.
^^No, I posted this here a few days ago.
I'm weighing the options now. I might pick up 2 or 3 cheaper ones like Isaballae and the new Fiio FH9, there's also the Alambic Ears Mentawai, but IE900 is still in the cards. Too many to choose from. 🤪

Oh snap I must have missed that. If you can take the lack of isolation Isabellae is a benchmark for its price...would love to hear your thoughts on it.
