I like as little coloration in my music as possible. The HD 600 is clearly better.

i used to sit near the percussion section once upon a time, with a piece of brass in my mouth..
gotten used to hearing MORE of the pounding bass...its a kind of enjoyment really, its not coloration to my ears.
so the hd600 ..though neutral, is too tame for me after awhile...i need that visceral pounding in the music, classicals n all.

I know what you mean, you can't feel the bass using cans, which is why I all too often turn up the below 100 hz EQ.  I still prefer my HD600's to the HD650's and I compared them both very carefull on my own gear and music. If you really like bass, try some orthos. I have a pair of HE-500's and they have superb bass, they make the hair on my head bounce to the music.

The HE-6 is indeed amazing.  Its the one thing i've heard, although briefly, that would unseat my HD600.  wish I could spend some quality time with it at home, but there aren't many out there to borrow. lol.

My sentiment as well.
 
I find the 600 definitely more attractive for genres like jazz and acoustic. The 650 the better rocker with it's added bass weight.

Not the same headphone, first thing is that the drivers are different. The sensitivity is very different. Of course look inside....not the same either.

The damping material appears to be a very similar metal mesh, but the HD 650 mesh looks slightly finer than the HD 600. The diaphragms look identical, but there are manufacturer markings on the material that are slightly different."
 
Note that we are talking about something that is supposed to be clearly better as in a huge difference and not virtually the same. I own HD-600 and HD-650 and I don't hear any huge "sound quality" difference between them (I'm not talking about sound signature).

Many of the opinions are just based on the ownership bias.

Depends to my mood but on average I prefer the onion one.

Why pay someone else to make a hamburger when you can DIY one at home and have it taste 100x better? I'll sell my hamburgers to anyone on the forum. Local pickup only.

It's the 650 for me, I know the slight coloration puts some off but I have fallen in love with them.
