The top bang-for-the-buck earbuds from FiiO,EM3 review recruitment is on Now!!!

My review pair came today. Initial impression after five minutes & two songs: VERY forward upper bass and full sound. Decent sound stage and the EM3 fits my ears better than the Monks.

I will not listen again until these have a 24-hour burn in.

My review on the EM3 earbuds just went online.

Full sound that is not bad for below 20 bucks worldwide, but there are some areas where I definitely see room for improvement.
Especially midrange naturalness could be better (bass and fundamental bloom into the lower mids). Though, bass extension is really nice for earbuds.
I guess I am not the only one who would like to see FiiO coming up with a higher-end earbud version eventually.

I would like to review your EM3 earphones. I would be able to test them using my FIIO e6 amp comparing them them to several other entry level earbuds such as the Monoprice earbuds, stock Apple earbuds ( new and old styles) and several others. As I have enjoyed the e6, I am very interested in how your earbuds perform. Could test with iPhone 6s, classic iPod, LG G3 or G4.

I like fiio...but this kind of design just never works for me either ergonomically or accoustically :frowning2:

Have you had the chance to try out the EM3? They're one of the few buds I've tried that work well with a very light seal. Could work for you since you can just pop them in without any worry of placement, for the most part. That's one of my favorite things about them; regardless of placement in your outer ear, sound quality is quite consistent.

I have to agree with Scrambler, they are one of the most position neutral designs I have seen.  They sound about the same regardless of how lightly or firmly you put them in.

x2 - A very light seal with the EM3 is imho even beneficial due to the very overly thick and warm lower mids they have with a good seal (having wide ear canals, getting a deep and good fit is very easy for me with the EM3 and I can get them deep enough to even slightly sit in my canals, forming the best possible seal for earbuds because they are slightly smaller than some other buds). With a shallow seal, there is still plenty of bass and the lower mids aren't as thick as before anymore, though still clearly on the undeniably coloured warm side.

Something that you could check out as well are the SoundMAGIC EP10 earbuds (got mine for $10 from MP4Nation). Also warm and smooth, but less dark and more natural than the EM3 in my ears, with a larger staging and somewhat better detail retrieval. I would've actually included the EP10 in my review if the EM3, but for some reason they have developed a channel imbalance, wherefore I didn't want to compare them to the FiiO buds. On a side-note, EP10's bodies are on the large and bulky side though, so you shouldn't have the smallest ears.

Posted my review, which was way overdue.  I plan on adding more to it by listening with donuts and without any covers.  I also plan on doing more in the comparisons section once I have some more time.

Overall, I thought the Fiio EM3's were excellent for the money and should be very popular as they are very inoffensive with a popular tuning.  I really appreciate the chance to test these and hats off to Fiio for continuing to provide such high quality items for such low cost.

Just plain amazed!    I promised to run the EM3s through the washing machine and the dryer in my jeans pocket as the ultimate torture test and damn if they didn't survive it.   I ran them through as part of a normal load of clothes the same way as when my daughter has left hers in a pocket.   (We use Tide packets.)    I ran them through a full dryer cycle and an additional 20 minutes to get the jeans thoroughly dry.   Upon removing them the buds were nearly too hot to touch.  Once cooled I plugged them into my phone and fired up a few flac files.   They worked!    I have now used them all Saturday and they are still going strong.

These may just be the toughest <$20 bud ever.     For the record the pair in the other pocket died.  Left bud completely dead and mic no longer works at all.

Bravo Fiio, a good sounding Kid proof earbud at a price we can all afford to give the kids.

Well done.

And that was the most important test for these earbuds.
