Just my opinion...

Huh? Sony MDR-V150?

Hmm...these new Philips 'phones look nice...

Quick question while we all wait for the review...how big are the HP460s on one's head in comparison to say, the MDR-V6? I just blew out my KSC-35's right driver while listening to my portable CD player after my iPod died (a lovely series of tragedies). I have some portapros on the way (I loves me that Koss driver), but am looking for a closed pair, and my MDR-V6s are kind large for public use (my gourd isn't all that big). The HP460 sounds tempting...

The HP460's are more or less the same size.

Be patient, old ones. Be patient.
I'm going to actually start a review starting with the HP460's tomorrow as I have some free time.

Of course, I can't finish until I get the other 2 cans.

I've been waiting for the reviews on the SHL-9500, and I've been thinking about whether to buy the SHL-9500, PX100's or HP460's but I'm going to pull the trigger and get the SHL9500's. 16 dollars at buy.com, needed to get something else from there, and got 10 dollars off 30. Let's hope these are as good as we all expect them to be.

I'm beginning to wonder if the SHL9500s actually exist.

They are nowhere to be found here in Europe.

Sayrum, you can go listen to these at the testing wall of the Saturn (or is it a Media Markt?) in the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden, up against most of their competitors. Probably at a lot of the other electronics stores around town as well. Sure, the source is bad, but that's more an issue for the better, less-sensitive headphones. Anyway, give it a try and I bet you'll find that these Philips are only meh, and can't stand anywhere near the HP460 or K81dj, and only maybe come near the puny px200. Also, they look like they're made about as well as the sonys that came with my walkman in 1990.

Supposedly in the mail. Along with my K81DJ's.

The more I listen to the HP460's, the more I love them.

Great news about the impending review. Why the sadness?

the new philips use this mylar membran, someone have info on that?
the build does look kinda flimsy.

ok, just got back from a brick n mortar store which had both cans on display.
i could hook my iaudio u3 up and test em...

so the hp460 beats the shl9500 comfort+isolation wise!
hp460 sound seemed muffled/veiled, the treble wasn't my thing either.
( i love the crisp clearity of my ath-ck7)
pop was ok on the hp but classical wasn't workin.
techno/trance was ok on hp, much nicer on the shl though!
the shl9500 was great in the treble and clearity (compared to the hp) especialy the vocals.
but not much isolation.
ahh, yes, the hp needs much more power to drive it to acceptable levels
(the u3 is preety strong but i had to crank it up almost to the top)
the shl was much easier to drive.
so none of them are for me.
i like the shl sound sig, but comfort+isolation are not good enough

mold both of them into one and i would go for it!

so any suggestions for a closed portable can (no amping!)?
suggestions greatly appreciated, my ears are startin to freeze...
(dj81 dosen't work for me)

Why doesn't the k81dj's work for you?
Is it because of the sound or the lack of comfort?
