ahh, yes, the hp needs much more power to drive it to acceptable levels
(the u3 is preety strong but i had to crank it up almost to the top)

The HP460s come with the inline volume control set to a middle position, which of course affects both frequency response and output volume (the volume pot acts as a plain ol' series resistor).

EDIT: BTW, the low isolation of the 9500s is not surprising, they're open according to their specs.
Oops, that would be the SHE9500 earphones. The SHL is indeed closed.

Is it because of the sound or the lack of comfort?

both!
i was bending and twisting them, all to no avail...
the sound sig puts to much emphesis on the lower end for me.
not workin with classical or vocal music (IMHO)
i tried removing the pads, still not workin...
seems i need an all around can since i'm also listening to lots of electronic (trance, goa)
i like clearity, sparkle and detail plus a decent bass...

ahh, sgrossklass, the inline volume control thingy, in all the excitment i forgot about that.
yes, i guess then the problem with driving the hp460 is solved!

The HD205s might be good headphones for you - they sound natural and neutral, not unlike the HD497s, but they have better bass and not as prominent treble.
They might be uncomfortable though if you have large ears and the isolation is rather weak.

ahh.
i'm gona go try the hd215 next, seem it's got good isolation and a decently balanced sound sig.
nice review by bangraman:

they seem a bit big and bulky, alas, what to do.

i've decided sound quali, comfort+ isolation are paramount.
