Listening to my recent Stax Sr007A's via the SRM-1/MK-2 , Linn LP12 and Stax arm while I awaiting the KGST I just ordered from Spritzer. Thank you everybody here for your input in my search. A beautiful A Charlin organ disc my brother bought me in Paris 50 years ago.

I bought my 007mk2 from Spritzer but I don't own any amps from him, been debating buying an amp from him forever. Not a Carbon since I already have one but something on his list of amps.

I would have suggested the Stax SRM-Monitor if you had a Stax Lambda or Lambda Pro. I've got one of these - it sounds rather nice! with a Stax Lambda Nova Signature.

This makes sense as the crowd I hang out with mostly thought the 009S was not a big enough change/improvement to justify the expense.
The X9000 makes is "seem" like more of a change, and the people I know that have listened to it (I have not) thought it was enough of a change to give it a go.
But, OUCH, that price point hurts. Won't be adding it to my stable any time soon.

If it's helpful, just confirming from my POV that the x9000 is indeed a pretty large jump from the 009/007. I just wish it was voiced in a similar presentation to the 009 (albeit with less brightness). But plenty of people really enjoy it as is. Also I've seen it used at good prices here and there, but yea, still a $ jump from the 007/009.

Or an old SRM-1 / Mk-2. Way less than $400 if you have some patience, basic soldering, and logic skills and get one out of japan. I was less than $300 into mine including shipping and an NB Lambda via buyee. Another $20 or so to replace electrolytic caps. When i get around to it i'll sell the lambda because i already have one.

Those SRM-1 Mk 2 Pro amplifiers are very nice.

I have the SRM-T1S. How does it compare to the SRM-1 Mk2 Pro ? Is there a substantial design and/or sonic difference, apart from SS vs tubes ?

from my memory, in terms of power are more or less at same level but the sound is different. stock T1 had less bass but a beautiful midrange and relaxed sound. about design (i´m not technician) i saw in both amplifiers resistors feeding the ss or tubes. i´m still curious to try ccs in the SRM-1

Thanks. I have considered getting a CCS mod done on my T1S as well, but I don't know precisely what is consists of or how to do it.
