The Ruizu X02 DAP thread

I'd be happy if they can make a more refined version of the X09 with pricing range around $80-$150. Retain the clip and screen and add water resistant feature, dedicated volume control buttons and maybe a nicer DAC and better UI...

I agree, a bit more thoughtful solutions and aluminium chassis combined with a sub $100 price tag would be my wish.

There's also the X10 that usese the same chip and has a hold button that might be handy. Perhaps the volume control works differently on it as well?

Maybe it's just me but compared to it's siblings, the X10 has terrible aesthetics though. I don't like the look of the housing. Could be just the picture though. Not a fan of the port on the side either, but they seem to love that particular layout. Mostly because if you have a straight jack then it'll be putting undue stresses on your headphone cable unless orientated properly. It also merged the play/pause button with the on/off.

Not sure why you'd want an aluminium chassis but I guess the Ruizu has to play to their market.

I agree with you, there's a reason why I choosed the X02 in the first place ;)

I just like the feeling of aluminium and I'd guess that it would hold up better than the plastic in the long run.......

But yes I'd by the one with the features on your wish list as well :)

I suppose. Not a fan of aluminium housing as they tend to dent and scratch too easily if you ever drop them over adequately hard surfaces. Especially if the devices themselves have already some weight in them. A silicone or leather case is a must with those. A good quality polymer shell would be preferable for me, a lot more forgiving with impacts and they tend to be cheaper most of the time anyway.

I doubt we'll see anything like that soon as it's a pretty niche market.

How does the X02 compare to the Fiio X1 sound wise?

Sorry, I've never heard the x1 but it's clearly inferior to the X3 to my ears......

lol, don't expect them to come even close to the ballpark of X1 I think. Their Texas Instrument PCM5142 and intersil's amp buffer would probably blow the rockchip nanob out of the water and that's without including the intersil amp buffer. In car terms, kinda like expecting a diesel engine to compete with a petrol + Turbo set up. The rockchip NanoB are meant to be a low cost, compact and power saving DAC.

X1 also supports up to 192/24 bit, so if you can hear the difference then it would be a clear winner.

 320kpbs is plenty for me.

Great.  Thanks for the feedback.  I was hoping for less than 3 weeks, but at least they're legit. If it takes them a few days to ship, I presume they are drop-shipping these from the manufacturer or a distributor, probably on the mainland.

Hopefully it doesn't take too long to hear some more impressions. I know you hate waiting for slow mail...3 WEEKS??? MADNESS!!! :D

That may well be it. It's the second week for me now and SingPost has just only received the package from the dealer. Still in the warehouse and not on the plane yet if the tracking is up to date.

Hi everybody

My first post (and I think that's good) but the news are not good I'm afraid...

After much consideration, and reading the posts in this forum, I also ordered the Ruizi X02 player, from Ever...buying.
It took abou 3 weeks to arrive to Portugal but here is were the problem starts: it did not arrive. I recieved only a empty box (not even of the mp3 but of a Power bank, that I never ordered) so please take precaution with the above mentioned sales site...

Or maybe I was just unlucky. Just opened a case in the sales site and I'm waiting...

So, no good cheap mp3 player for next christmas
