Make a decision. Choose a favorite. Even people with kids choose a favorite and say it. Eventually kick them out of the nest too. Choose one and start kicking stuff out.
Here is one of my oldie but goodies. These iems were my first decent set and blew my mind, coming from $20 Skull Candy iems back in the day. The bass and detail was killer and now that I have a good a good DAP the DX160, I am gonna see what these can do, and how they stack up against my newer iems.
IDK if they're 'retro' per se.
For the longest time though, I used the Klipsch Image S4 thinking they were the god damned best thing one could use for listening to music on the go. I still have a pair that I pretty much exclusively use for listening to podcasts and for workout. I never got any of the stock tips to consistently work, but I thought that was just something to roll with until one day I got comply tips. Klipsch was sort of my gateway drug. I don't even know when I got my first pair. I used cheap-ish Panasonic IEMs in the mid-2000s with my trusty Cowon X5. Don't ask me for the model of those. Then Cnet or something ranked the Klipsch Image S4 as "best IEM money can buy" or something and I stuck with those for years until basically 2016.

Oh yea DK-2001. Disco in your ears. They are a natural progression from the DN-2000J. Fun technical tuning. One of my faves in the price range. I was gonna post some Dunu greats. When the Titan 1s came out I considered them a turning point for Dunu.
I just fired up my Dunu DN-2000J and I am blown away once again! I got so caught up on the next best thing for a while there and completely forgot about these. Well, looks like they just got put back in the rotation. The bass, speed and detail, with really great tonality, texture and transparency in the mids, and sparkle in the treble is stellar. These are fantastic iems, no doubt.
the DN-1000 were not that good. Decent bass, but the highs were very peaky. a fairly good 3D sound for one of the first affordable hybrids, but they were left in the dust by subsequent Dunu releases and many other companies that followed with hybrids.

And I remember that's why I upgraded to the DN-2000J. I do remember the bass on the 1000 being fun, so I am still looking forward to hearing them again.
