I just got these three Fivre 6C5G dirt cheap at a local place and I'm pretty stoked. The two brown base ones look like what you would expect them to, but the black base one has me a little confused.
Other than the different stamp, I have never seen the top section like this. I don't know what the two transparent arc-shaped parts are called, but one of them is placed in the middle of the tube instead of the side.
Is this a defect? It looks really weird and definitely different compared to other tubes.
It must have come loose and got stuck in that slit up top. Can't be intentional. It's supposed to sit opposite to the other one, surely.

Dunno, are there many Italians selling overpriced tubes on eBay? I always assumed they were all the same dealer but I never looked into it.
.... two of the tube gouge triumvirate are:
wege_high_tubes, cartago delenda est. Both are located in Italy. The third? Everyone's pick: Bangy Bang!

Why that name? 🤔 .... it's the sound of a wallet 'thunderclap' when a complete wallet vacuum is generated instantaneously 🤷🏻‍♂️😳.

I think the Italian ripper has even more user names than that. Will post when realized

Hello all. I can use 7193's as single triodes in my DAC - what kind of adapter do I need? I can't seem to suss it out - maybe somebody can point me in the right direction? Thanks for your help! And for the help of this thread. My DAC has never sounded so good as it does with Syl 6J5gt's.

I'm not sure what tube your DAC uses natively. If you want to use 7193 in place of a 6J5 than you need a 7193 -> 6J5 adapter. You can get them from ebay or @Deyan on this site. FWIW I've been enjoying 7193 types a lot over the the last year or so, my favs are the Ken-Rad and GEC CV1135.

@CAJames
How do the 7193’s compare to the 6J5’s? They show as being a “VHF Triode” based on the 6J5- does it just boil down to different connectors or do they have a different presentation?

For me the big difference is they cost a lot less. :L3000:

The Ken-Rads and GECs sound a lot like the 6J5GT/L63 versions. I have National Union 7193s that sounded soft and veiled, so very different from my NU 6J5GTs.

Have you added the 2C22 and Soviet 6S8S into the mix as well? Any particular model/brand stand out here?

Has anyone seen an actual 2C22? I have not. I have a lot of old tube manuals and the only reference I see to them is from Sylvania, which I didn't think ever made this type tube. Also no on the 6S8S. I've got a couple quads of GEC and one of Ken-Rad and that is plenty for me.
