I strongly doubt those were powdercoated. Powdercoating means you have to bake the finish on (and without electrodes) and the plastic would not hold up. My guess is that they were painted.

And the red isn't too bad. Though I'd rather see them in silver or a jet black.

On the other hand, you can't see headphones when you're wearing them.

I'd also have to say that a black, or perhaps a nice blue, would look better, but I definitely think it looks awesome!
