The PENON official thread

The truth is that I don't like Final E either but until I get DX260 it is the only way to balance Impact since R3 II can sound quite thin and bright, I usually fall for intermediate hole tips like the Kbear 07 that they provide a very good balance or something like the Spinfit W1, however I will consider all the cable options, thank you!
I don't know too much about the tips, etc. I appreciate the common one, black and green size M, that comes with all Penon. Those are the ones that fit me well, and I have not tried any others. I will get and try the newer ones once I purchase another IEM, course from my favorite brand...P e n o n

So I've been messing around with some EQ's lately for the Quattro's. Although they sound great with their stock tuning, I wanted to make a few adjustments and try to push the technical chops of these quality drivers. And with some help of AutoEQ and some of my own personal touches, I came up with this and just had to share! :) I know its a lot of adjustments (24-band PEQ) but I would be lying to you if I said ALL of them didnt play a crucial part in dialing into these and making them sound completely and utterly fantastic. Ive been making EQ's for all my headphones for quite some time now, but I feel like this is the one Im most proud of. It essentially transforms the Quattro's. Try to utilize all 24 bands if you can. If you have something like the Qudelix 5K, then you're gonna have to sacrifice 4 of these - so Id probably just get rid of the ones that make the least adjustments and highest Q values. I have this EQ on all the time and its hard going back to stock tuning. Give it a shot. You wont be disappointed! Enjoy!

It tunes the quattro to a more harman-ish siguature with less lower mids and a bass tuck with more subbass and a touch more upper mids and a lot more lower treble and presence (my only gripe).

Although not a perfect adaptation, it comes pretty darn close. Here's a 10-band version of it. :)

Yes this is true. I based it off of a Harman-like target. I do prefer a lot more treble (maybe more than normal), but I feel like the Quattro does it very well. And the beauty of EQ is that you can change it to your liking. As someone stated earlier, this is purely my preference.

Guys I have fan 2 which I bought recently.. and now I'm thinking of getting Quattro. But I'm on tight budget so is Quattro a big upgrade? To me mids is this most important. I have the same preference (or so I thought) like Timmy from Gizaudio. Bought his Chopin but returned it because I don't like it's sound. It's way too clean(thin) for me in the vocals(tried it for a week) but it just didn't click with me, it has way better technicality than fan 2. When I got Penon fan 2 1st impression was I like it. The vocals were thick and not recessed but not that good techs. I'm looking for a pretty much better tech fan 2.

The Penon 10th Anniversary may do exactly what you want. It is almost a Fan 2 with added EST drivers......liquid treble.

I agree; the 10th is a more "relaxed" Fan 2. Quattro has a different sound signature. Check the forum for impressions.
Interesting, I’ve not heard the 10th as being more relaxed than the Fan2. In what way? Anybody else hear the two that way?

I had a similar issue. Sent in my fan 2 for repair (shipping cost is outrageous) but they resolved the issue!

I don't have the 10th either. Of the ones I have, I would say that the one most similar to the tuning of the Fan2, which is the most neutral that Penon has ever made, is the Impact (of course, at another level). The 10th, from what I understand, despite having partly the same components, is a more V-shaped profile. The Quattro is another flavor, but it can be a very good complement to the Fan2.

Our colleague @ToneDeafMonk has, or has had them all!

Thank you - the Fan2 and 10th sound relative to each other to me the way they graph, with the 10th being much more lively / V shaped.

I wonder if the observations some (including me) have about the Quattro lacking treble is simply due to the mids and bass being so prominent.

I'm quite agree.
For me the fan2 is more dynamic thanks 10th ... even if I really appreaciate both.
