No matter what i try, every IEM including the Serial, I always end up with the yellow Spinfits!I got my pair of SERIAL!!
I already have spent some days with them and quite like their natural presentation, coherent 3DD version of Penon house sound with deep sub bass , slamming bass, sweet mid and airy treble.
And it’s interesting that, as other guys said, they are highly sensitive to eartips and cables matching. So once I changed a cable, I had to find suitable eartips( stock blue/green tips ,tanchjim T-APB, Symbio, Xelastec were basically well suited).
And I ended up with stock cable and JVC Spiral Dot ++.
Oh, I got a Penon Mix too but I just have tried it a little. I liked it but I feel like staying with stock settings for now.
I had written something more, but deleted it. Though I don’t know how long my pair have been burned in, their bass has become even deeper…
It seems I need some more time to evaluate Serial!

Merry Christmas @ehjie and to everyone here!
It has been… it’s been utterly difficult.
Anyways, here’s a Christmas present to myself.
Oooh, great Christmas present!
Funny, but when you posted your M6 (21) + Serial + Flow doppelgänger, I was thinking how your background would be a perfect match for the Volt. And now here it is… BAM.
Thanks!
I have to take back my words on not getting the Volt.
Its the stock SPC cable, very good cable I must say.
Cant stop peeking into those translucent shells.
And a Merry Christmas to you @ian91.
I wonder if Penon tweaks the colour of the stock cable? Mine is a slightly different shade of blue (edit: see next post) and I was wondering what cable that was as well.
Seriously, be patient in the weathering / brain burning in. Will take some time, months for me. They do sing, favours not by gender voice, nor genre - It'll play anything - No judgement. Not pressured on complex tracks. Does not sibilate - even the most notorious sibilant tracks / albums. One of the best dynamic bass, BA receiver Mids and the most realistic est treble, way,way beyond its price point. Large sound field. They're extremely immersive. If you love the Orb, Globe, Serial - that pair is the "greatest hits"...
+1. Whether it’s actual or brain burn in, all I can say is it’s a real slow burn. Not only the DD, but also (in fact especially) the EST drivers. They are so much more cohesive now. It’s probably the main reason why I’m actually liking it more and more as the months go by.

Thanks, @davidmolliere! Your review played a big part in helping me decide on getting Volt in the first place.

Now this is interesting. The prospect of Penon revising their line? I’m all ears…

My Volts are getting the same treat during commutes. And when stationary, W2-Volt take the spot.
Next year probably will give it this treatment too:

Well, enjoy, what a great christmas present. Cheers, merry christmas to you too.
Cheers, will surely do. Super impressed upon first listen!

It will further open up with more hours in. Yeah the CS819 is fantastic and the Mix is a real nice upgrade, very balanced sounding with more space and top end amongst other improvements. Though myself and @-rowan- prefer silver on it, more the better.
You got Volt? Great!
And Merry Christmas!
I hope I can find a used pair…
Oh yeah and I’m super happy with it. From time to time I’m sure the classified will have one or two for sale. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you too.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Lol.

Finally joining the Volt gang! If there’s such a thing.
I’m taking my time with it. Haven’t listened to it much but out of the box, it’s already sounded fantastic.
You know I love my Penons!

My money's on the Serial 2 - Give it a wide bandwidth Dynamic, maintain the nf tune, it'll throw the deepest staging, ever.
It's already there. Push them further away down the middle, and we got ourselves a triple homerun...

Yeah, looks like it can work...
I don't have the possibility of having my ear impressions taken right now. If however, Penon does offer a reshell service, I might go that routeYeah, looks like it can work...

I believe so.
I'm keeping my Volts as they are, for posterity. '22 is just around the corner and won't make the same mistake twice (not had it ciem in the 1st place).Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone. Hope this year was one filled with health and music discoveries.

They are (one of) the best tuned in ear headphones, I have come across. Compared to even my previous and current heavy weights, all the way up to the usd.2,399 mark.
They may not have the largest field (by depth), the most detailed possible treble - Volts are the most entertaining set, hands down. Details and trebles are there, but not calling attention on their own, just the appropriate amount - not over stated.
By order of attention, the Mids is the priority-but not forward, equal in scale to the notes, then come the bass, lastly treble...

Now that's it's fully burned in I can say, Penon Serial has done something quite amazing with its triple DD... running them with Go Blu I am reminded how well tuned DD are something special... I haven't heard many multi DD setup such as this... coherency is excellent and you don't hear anything funky it sounds like a single DD but nothing like a 300$ IEM. The Orb was already my personal favorite in that price tier, but the Serial is much more impressive technically.
I need some time with those but the bass is simply one of the best I have heard regardless of the price, this is even more special plugged to M17 but Go Blu does a superb job with them already. It slams hard when called for but it's not a bassy IEM in the sense that it has overly prominent and permanent bass presence. Control is excellent with Go Blu and reaches heights with the M17 I didn't think would be possible, with very good speed as well. But it doesn't stop there, mids are full and smooth true to Penon house sound but also very articulate with excellent separation and a surprisingly accurate timbre. Upper mids are safe some might be left wishing a tad more bite. Up top things are interesting as well... DD sure can keep up with other tech and having a dedicated driver works wonder to my ears. Treble tone is something that is hard to nail down and it always sounds even the slightly bit skewed in one direction or another. This stands out on the Serial, to my ears it's spot on and a very balanced treble. I could see people having issue with lower treble energy although for me it's still safe, on M17 it was quite a bit more energetic than the Go Blu that smoothens it on the Serial. On some track I was right to the edge of my personal sensitivity.
Stage is quite big too, not the widest but height and depth are superb and it's very holographic and immersive. Overall the Serial is of the engaging kind and it's quite versatile, while it features basshead level bass with audiophile grade proficiency it's much more than that and then some. Color me impressed! When you go ahead and pick up an IEM like the Serial just right after the EXT and you're having fun and impressed with its bass, something is happening for sure...
Volt custom is quite something, I have over a dozen custom and they fit perfectly too

Ordered the ePro EP00 from Penon, for my 5mm nozzle IEM and only noticed today that the EP00 tips are 3.7mm. Will they fit?
