Anyone got any impressions of the V200 with LCD2 or HE-500s?

And what DACs are we using to feed the v200?  Personally here I am using the UD384+UPower and I am looking for a fuller featured DAC (I plan on keeping the UD384 as a transport).

I'm a total vocals/mids guy and always listen to the lyrics of songs before paying attention to anything else.

PS - I'm totally in LOVE with the V200+HD650 pairing, I didn't know what the Sennheiser 'veil' was until I listened with my V200, now my Valhalla has been relegated to bedside/transportable duty.

I am also finding this pairing, V200/HD650 to be the best that I have heard from the HD650.

My HD650 has a silver plated copper cable on it as I hated the stock cable and the signature that the HD650 had, especially the overhang on the bass.

I haven't listened to the HD650 for a while and it wasn't until reading your post that I plugged it into the V200/V800. The sound to me can't be further than what the OP has posted above, very seductive and enjoyable combination!

I will post more thorough thoughts for you re the LCD-2 and HE500 with the V200 as I have both.......but briefly the tonally correct and along with the solidity and palpable images that the LCD-2 can portray has made it more enjoyable for me over the HE500.

I compared woo wa6, burson ha 160, schiit Lyr and V200 using the v800 and hd 650 and to my ears only the v200 made me forgot the equipments.
It didn't impress me at all but I forgot that I was trying to do a comparison and enjoy the music

Hi,

I've not heard the LCD-2 on the V200, but the HD600 is a good match.

I use my Violectric V800 DAC and it's pretty good with it. It's a very neutral DAC and the pairing of it and the V200 is nice.

I tried a friends HD650 on my V200 and I thought it sounded bad. The sound was a mushy mess. Too much bass, congested mids, and the treble was reduced further.

I've since 'upgraded' to the LCD2.2 but (un)fortunately, I find my time split between the hd650 and LCD2 depending on the music/mood.  I am definitely making good use of the duel headphone ports!

I'm totally a midrange/vocals guy, and thus still find the HD650+v200 preferable for a good wide range of music...  Never would consider myself a basshead, but damn the LCD2 just got that PRaT.....

I'm heading to HK in January, so I'm hoping to score a pair of HE-500s... and i was able to score a pair of Sennheiser Momentums.... my poor wallet.....

I agree, the HD650 actually does sound pretty good with the V200 unlike how Zombie X feels (we disagree again mate lol)
But I do tend to use the HD650 on one of my 3 OTL amps in stead of with the V200 cause is sounds even better. Same thing goes for the HE-500 which I prefer on the LF339.
The V200 to me does best with the LCD-2, then the with the HE-500 and then with the HD650. The HE-500/HD650 on tubes or just nicer to listen to for me, while the Audez'e sounds best on ss.

Just my 2cents

Welp, while in HK, I'm sure I'll be able to test some tube amps out.... I was plannin' on auditioning some Darkvoice amps anyhow.

Head-fi newbie here joined the V200 club a few days ago :) Bought it based on excellent reviews here to match my HD800, have to say I've never enjoyed musics this much.

I have a Musical Fidelity M1 DAC-A to match this amp, haven't thought about upgrading the DAC yet 'cause I'm pretty happy w/ the M1 DAC so far. Right now I hooked them up w/ a pair of RCA cables. Just ordered a pair of balanced cables, hopefully this would boost the SQ a bit more. For now I'm pretty much settled w/ my head-fi setup (sorry I'm too new to be able to update my profile at the forum):

Sources: PC or Marantz CD6004
DAC: Musical Fidelity M1 DAC-A (the later one w/ asynchronous USB)
Headphone Amp: V200
Headphones: HD800, HD600

I use HD600 mostly for movies and HD800 for musics. With the purchase of this V200, I'd focus more on enjoying musics instead of looking for better gear :)

I see that most comparisions are meant for HD650, but what about paring V200 & V800 with HD800? I'm considering it as an option now (to buy both) since they are within budget (although I can afford 1k$ more to get a better amp or dac)..
So what is your experience on this combo? Keep in mind I use computer as a primary source (which V800 seems to handle USB input well from project86 review).

is there anyone who want to share more in depth impressions about the v200 set to gnd for the groundlift jumper, and to dc operation, vs ac and lift settings?

Warm, smooth, tubey alike but with dynamic solid state sound, love it!
