Ha, right, I guess it's all relative.  You know you have been in the ortho world too long when 1-2 watts is considered not power hungry

The HE-500 isn't power hungry? I didn't know what!

But even adding 6db of extra gain is nice. Nice to have more control over the volume.

I am a very bad photographer but I decided to add a picture of my V200 + V800 + HD800 combo nonetheless, they deserve to be shown for the pleasure they procure me

I've been considering trying either the HE-400 or HE5LE, looking at the V200 stats it should have plenty of juice. What's your experience?

my experience, zombster, is that it has lots of power.
almost enough power to drive the HE-6, but not quite.
i was able to make the amp clip with the HE-6.

I don't have any experience with the HE-400 or HE-5LE but looking at specs alone there should be no trouble driving the HE-400 (92.5dB, 1W) or even the HE-5LE (87.5 dB, 1W).  The V200 drives my HE-500 (89 dB, 1W) with authority.  Even at 0 dB gain on the V200 there is plenty of headroom with most music.  I tried the +6dB gain on the V200 with the HE-500 and I only get to about 12 o'clock on the volume dial before it got too loud.  I don't hear any major penalties to increasing the gain on the V200, a testament to its designer.

The V200 and HE-500 combination is pretty good.  I don't know how the HE-500 would perform with a less warm amp but I don't feel any urges to try one.

Out of curiosity, why the HE-5LE over the newer HE-500?  Same price for a new one.

yep...  not sure how or why, but i was able to make it clip pretty easily with gain at +12 (max) setting.
but wasn't able to make it clip at +6 setting or lower.

Wow, that HE-6 must be a beast!     Did it clip with the settings at +12db?

Maybe I'll eventually try the HE-500 then...

On another note, anyone know of any XLR splitters? Not the typical Y splitter, but a powered one? I've been using the SPL 2Control over the past few days and it seems to do the job I need it to, but is a bit big.. I need a powered splitter to split the signal into three independent L/R XLR's, so six total XLR sockets.

If you guys have any input then it's welcomed..

I'll look into it then. The SPL 2Control is doing a nice job of splitting the audio in to two signals for me, so I may just keep it.

Nice pics.  Just noticed your post before that one.

I was thinking about crossfeed the other day and the 2Control is on my short list if I ever went that route.  So what do you think of this feature?  Does the experience become less like 2 driver listening and more all-around spatial listening with the 2Control?
