The Official Sony TA-ZH1ES Hi-Res Headphone Amplifier (Live From IFA 2016)

Hi all, I've finally removed the audio transformer from the Taz for some measurements (shout out to our kind lab technician) but I'm bad with the math, so I'll need the collective brainpower from the thread...
Here are the conditions that I measured the transformers with:
Open (no) load
1khz
Megger B131
Here are the measurements:
185~186mH across the full primary/secondary under no load at 1khz with a Q-factor of approx 1.18
47.8mzh across primary/secondary to center tap under no load at 1khz with a Q-factor of approx 0.96
If I use 2πFI to calculate the Inductive reactance, I get an impedance of approx 1k, which means the transformer is a 1:1, 1k:1k transformer, can anyone from the thread proof the math cause it does sound very off to me
p.s. I forgot to measure the DC resistance of the coils
Many thanks!

I am using the Tazzy as a stereo dac/preamp in preout/variable mode into a pair of active speakers. It sounds exceptionally clean. I have heard sometimes it better to still use a stereo preamp to connect a dac and bypass the dacs volume control and just use it in fixed out mode. Does anyone use the Tazzy in variable preout mode? Thoughts?

is the TA-ZH1ES considered the best amp/DAC to pair with the MDR-Z1R in 2024?
I don't think it matters. Unless you have really great hearing and think you can hear subtle differences between amp and dac pairings. I've used the Z1R with an XLR cable on the TAZ, single ended on the RME ADI-DAC, and with the JDS Atom 2-- to be honest, it all sounds the same to me.

Class D amps can sound (and measure) quite differently to analog amps.

I bought measuring equipment because my Walkman sounded different than my phone and wanted to find out why and how.

Not every device does (and wants) to sound transparent, there can be differences

I don't care enough to argue about the science behind it all. If you can hear the difference, then that's great for you. I cannot hear the difference, but I enjoy the experience of physically interacting with different gear.
