elrod, we must have the same ears. i didn't trash the CD3K and SA5K just because i thought they were basically fairly rated as Not Great here already

Overrated imho, and by a long margin.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I have found every "DJ" marketed can highly un-enjoyable.

Opinion rejected, they are underrated by most head-fiers (pushed off as not worthy of anything)

Perhaps it's not overrated but I don't think it's underrated either. The HD595 is heavily pushed here at times as the best in price bracket. IMHO it's good, but not quite that good. Overrated? That's where the HD555 comes in.

K701
HD650
HF-1

I too thought Sony R10 after hearing them at a meet (wasn't impressed at all), but I also assume they are much better under better circumstances, so...

There's 2 ways to take that.

1) They aren't rated that high to begin with, so they aren't "overated"
2) They are underated

I'll let you decide

If anything, Bose are underated! They're not great value for money, but the sound is not that horrible.

This thread makes me mad! How dare you say the Sr60 is overated.

I don't have any overated headphones yet. I have found a way to live with my purchases whether good or bad. None really bad so far.

I'm a noob, so bear with me :p

HD201's were one my first purchases...but even for a noob, they were very fatiguing and had no bass

I would also have to vote for Marshmallows too. Maybe I'm wearing them incorrectly, but there is just waaay too much bass and no mids/highs. I primarily listen to rap/r&b, so even I find it surprising to say something has too much bass. :p I will probably try the Kramer mod shortly...
