anyone knows where to get those small desiccant pods that come with the 64 audios? I can't find anything that small on line. I do know that 64 sells them but I am based in Europe/uk so paying 3 dollars for the pods and 50 for shipping seems a bit silly

I don't have a link to a specific product, but I can tell you that the size of the desiccant that we ship with is about 25mm diameter by 11mm tall. Anything that size should fit in the cutout in your IEM case

I got my u18t a few days ago and I’m getting some weird distortion / artefacts that disappears after several minutes of use. It happens on a few of my players but I mostly use the Apple 3.5mm to lightning dongle just for ease of use. The dongle has zero output impedance and perfectly drives my other iems even if it does have some obvious shortcomings producing a less refined sound and collapsed soundstage.

Initially the u18t will distort at 65% volume and above and it’s even more evident if I apply any EQ, say +2db low shelf. But after several mins the distortion disappears and I can raise the volume to even max and EQ however I like and there’s no distortion - not that I plan to listen at max volume…

I have a couple other players Sony and Questyle and the same thing happens.

Wondering if someone could shed some light on whats happening. Why is the distortion there and then disappears after several mins? It means I have to wait several mins before I can apply any EQ settings and listen at a moderate volume.

Needless to say that is pretty odd behavior for any IEM. I would normally suggest that you try different sources and cables to try to narrow in on where the source of the issue really is. It's unlikely that any issue with the drivers would create that kind of behavior, but I've learned over years of working with IEM's that these kind of surprising issues are definitely possible even if it stretches my imagination to figure out what is happening and why. Unfortunately you'll probably need to send it in to us for repair.

I did a quick search and this suggests it’s a known issue. It sounds exactly like digital square wave distortion rather than any sort of driver rattle or resonance. The fact I’m getting it in both left and right side seems to correlate with this. Could I be shorting the earphones by not providing enough power or rather voltage?

Also how well does the u18t take to bass lift using the m20 module? If it’s designed with producers and engineers in mind I would have thought it should be able to take a healthy dose of EQ.

It does seem to settle after a few mins but truth be told I can still hear some minor distortion at higher volumes when the bass is strong and thumping.

if there is a potential for a short, it would be the amplifier that is shorting due to low resistance. We can't definitively say what would cause an issue like this but there are IEMs and headphones that are source sensitive and U18t/A18t is definitely one of them. We see this even in professional audio when used with wireless RF packs and the rate at which their batteries are depleted.

The two phenomena that we have direct experience with is when you turn the volume all the way up with a Dragonfly DAC and any IEMs with a really low impedance it will shut the dragonfly down and restart it. Also, at one point with certain mobile/laptop devices, we ran a 60hz sine wave and plugged the low impedance IEMs directly into the headphone out and we would go from a completely clear tone to a total buzz at around 75%; it wasn't a gradual thing but instantaneous. In all of these cases the IEM components were operational and remained operational after the experiments. It does seem that the amps themselves have a tough time delivering current with such little resistance, especially at higher volumes.

They’re both smooth. U4s upper mids are a little more forward and less resolving. U4s has a slightly sweeter timbre overall.

Sure .. I have the A4s and the A12T versions.

To my ears the vocals are pretty much the same, which is to say pretty relaxed, both of the IEMs while they do vocals pretty well I would say instruments are presented a bit more forward on the two IEMS.

It should be noted that resolution and details are better on the A12T, but the A4S is really not that far behind IMO.


Now back to the vocals, to my ears vocals take a back seat to musical instruments like guitars, violins and etc.


However if you want a good well balanced IEM from 64a with a emphasis on the mids and a more forward vocal presentation then I would check out the U6T.
