you're most likely experiencing a leak due to the faceplate not being reattached correctly. The DD radiates into the shell directly without any tubes, so if there isn't a complete seal you'll see that extreme drop off in the low end. Please email support@64audio.com to submit a repair order.Hi guys, I am a nio user for around 2 years+, when I tried to change the apex module I accidentally popped the faceplate, it seems like a glue failure
I managed to glue it back with the help of my friend who is also an IEM builder, but now there is some imbalance on the right channel for around -5db in the 20-800hz region.
my friend checked the impedance and the drivers seem to be still functional, is this an acoustic issue or something else?
thank you!

We use a number of adhesive materials across our product range. We're not having a systemic issue with any of our adhesives at the moment. Sometimes things fail and we do our best to take care of customers and do our due diligence to make sure these failures aren't systemic.64 Audio IEMS really have an issue with glue, why does 64 keep using that kind of glue?

The above is not something you should be concerned with unless you're seeing signs of a failure. You can always send them in for a deep cleaning, which includes a thorough testing. If your IEM is in warranty we'll repair any issues we find during the test/clean, if it is out of warranty our support team will reach out with options regarding further repairs. For $59 is it the best option for putting your mind at ease about any potential issues: https://www.64audio.com/products/deep-cleaning@64Audio - is the above something I should be concerned about with my 12 month old U12t ?

I know that issue is not systemic level but there are cases showing that the faceplate is the weakest part of 64 IEMs, I see that users can send back to 64 to fix easily but it is for USA users, for whom other countries it is really a pain point. We use a number of adhesive materials across our product range. We're not having a systemic issue with any of our adhesives at the moment. I appreciate the concern but its fine. I just glued it back on.Please do reach out to support@64audio.com for this sort of issue.
Our UIEMs, like your U12t, are durable. Each unit is milled out of solid aluminum billet. We go through great lengths to ensure durability and longevity. Of the thousands of units we ship annually there are handfuls of units that require repair within the warranty period and many more that we repair outside of warranty, which is expected in manufacturing. Can't imagine there are any products from any manufacturer that have 0% failure throughout the lifetime of the user.I bought the IEM 64 Audio U12t not only for the sound but also for the durability.
Although I also liked the sound of the Custom Art Fibae 7 Unlimited and I preferred the more expensive and more substantial U12t.
Unfortunately, as I see them, IEMs from 64 Audio are not 100% in quality.
Hopefully it won't happen to me either, especially not after the warranty.
Of course, these are probably rare cases, but with an IEM for 3,000 USD (U18t) this should not happen at all.

The $59 charge is for a deep cleaning and a thorough test by experienced technicians and we can re-apply the same or a replacement chip during that service if your chip has come off. This is specifically for the cosmetic faceplate chip and not the entire faceplate piece, so this is irrelevant for our Duo or U18s which don't have faceplate chips. So it costs $59 dollars to reglue a shell. A bit steep but what you gonna do.

I have been less lucky. My u12t were repaired twice for a short that affected the left earpiece. The first time was fortunately right before my warranty expiration, and it was obvious there was a problem. The second time, it was an intermittent problem that took out huge amounts of treble. Then one day it became completely obvious there was something very wrong because the sound completely cut out. I'm glad I paid for the second repair, because I was thinking wow, I don't remember these IEMs having such a dark, ultra bass heavy and lifeless sound. The repair fixed that, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed because these are nice IEMs.for people that worry about QC issues with 64audio their iems, I have owned my u12t for the past 5 years and no issues with them whatsoever . Sometimes you can be unlucky with any brand but so far they are holding up fine.
