Those early impression seem to point to a good place for me. I was pretty set on the IE900 but the Duo may give it a run for its money. I like the open back nature of it since I’ll only be using it around the house. I’m into a V-shape sound so it if is just a mild v-shape that would be great.

This is a different type of open back. My only experience with open back is using a handful of headphones, like R70x and Empyrean, where there is no privacy and anybody in close proximity can hear the sound loud and clear like you have two speakers pointing out. This is NOT it. Isolation is not stellar, as intended by design. The spec says -12dB, could be around that or maybe a bit less. But there is very minimum sound leakage. Did wife-test, she wasn't able to make out what song I'm playing standing next to me. I even put my phone next to iems and recorded ambient noise, probably within an inch or two away from faceplate, played it back and all I can hear is my wall clock ticking across the room. With close to 2 days of burn in and a few more listening minutes, the sound is VERY open, does feel like you are wearing open back headphones, but the soundstage shape is not exactly holographic, more focused on depth and height. The width is there, and sound is spreading wide, but doesn't exactly matches the extent of depth/height.
I will go into a more detailed analysis later when I get to work on the review. I know there were a lot of questions about this new release, and when I posted about it on FB and HF FB audio group, many were not even aware about Duo. So, I tried to answer as many questions as I can to share more early impressions and will continue with the rest in a full review which I'm planning to have by the release date of 9/24.
Brown "Have you heard?"
Black "Duo?"
Brown "I thought it was a new flagship, but it seems to be an entry-level with 1DD1BA!"
Black "Yeah! Freaked me out!"
Brown & Black "We still won't lose to the younger folks!! "

Just finished up with the U6t review, an excellent and very likable sound signature. I have the original A6 from way back in late 2016 and this is a good upgrade sound quality-wise.
