Sweden's Dungen and the superb psychedelic rock album 'Ta det lugnt' which could have been from 1968 not 2004 which is when it came out. I love the San Francisco vibe track Det du Tänker Idag Är du I Morgon

From Denmark, Under Byen and their album 'Samme Stof Som Stof'. I did not get into it the first time I listened, but it has grown on me. The singing is in the style of a whispering Bjork and just like other Danish prog bands I have heard, it is percussive, mellow mix of acoustic, electric and it is melodic with an added dark mysterious edge to the sound.

Elsewhere they are described as art rock and post rock, so to my mind that puts them right into the broad prog definition.

Somewhat OTT anthemic mix of metal and opera by Norway's Peccatum...

From 2005, but with a Canterbury/psychedelic sound from the early 1970's. Made in Sweden.

Made in Sweden have switched styles with each album and this one is pure jazz prog fusion.

I wonder if the Nordic Prog fans would be blown away by the (not "prog" I suppose) NuJazz stuff.  Like I think any progger would love Eivind Aarset's records -- this "Sonic Codex Live" is mindmeltingly great. (Actually, the studio Sonic Codex, the previous cd, to my mind is more prog -- but it's not nearly as intense).  Or his earlier "Connected" or "Light Extracts".  Also Nils Petter Molvaer's live record among others.  Molvaer's "Hamada" also -- has a lot of mellow stuff, but the aggressive stuff sounds a lot like Crimson at their most head-ripping.

OK, I'm an interloper.  A jazz fan much more than a prog fan.  But I think there ends up being a log of overlap esp in the "Nordic" part of this.

I have been listening to Nils Petter Molvaers albums for a while now and you are right Choronzon. Hamada is superb and he crosses grenres like the Norwegian band Jarga Jazzist. Presently listening to this, jazz, ambient, electronica melting pot of an album

And Jaga Jazzist is one of the few bands (at least on the early pages of this thread) that I've been listening to, as well. The live Molvaer STREAMER, and especially the tune "Marrow", I think would satisfy any prog fan, too.  Aarset on that one, too, for that tidal wave of guitar. But the whole band is just transcendent.

I keep mentioning Aarset because his records as a leader -- given that he's a guitarist and not a trumpeter, maybe -- are more "rock".  And everyone I hip him to is shocked he's been under their radar.  If he has, that is! He was Molvaer's closest partner up until very recently, when he wanted to go out on his own.
