Anekdoten's 2009 best of and rare tracks release is my greatest Nordic prog album of all time.

Debatable how prog this band is, but they could be counted at the eclectic end of prog, particulary the later albums and they are definitely worth a listen, Bob Hund

Norwegian band White Willow. Anthemic to mellow to metal prog.

Also from Norway, Wobbler and their album Hinterland. Symphoinc prog with hints of Yes, but not to the same extent as the Flower Kings. The long track 'Hinterland' is an epic. Highly recommended.

A new (ish) Norwegian band called Nordagust. Melodic, anthemic, atmospheric.

Norway's Jarga Jazzist. Eclectic in extreme and wonderful for it

The track 'One Armed Bandit' is an instrumental which sounds like it should be theme tune for a 1970s thriller/detective TV programme such as The Persuaders or The Saint.

Went back through the thread and had managed to miss Norway's Gargamel. Heavy prog, Deep Purple meets earlier Genesis.

Norway's The Brimstone Solar Radiation Band, jazzy folky psychedelic with a 1960s west coast vibe.

Not really prog at all, but described as post punk, psychedelic drone, minimalism, Sweden's The Skull Defekts are exciting, hard rocking and remind me of the 'Berlin' Iggy Pop albums.

So since they are Nordic and interesting I though I would rave about them here.

Hi Albedo, can't believe I missed out Wobbler's new album from the thread. It has been on Spotify for a while now and I too would add to the excellent reviews. Wolverine are also on Spotify, so are now on my playlist

Have been reading through the thread and have to mention some Norwegian releases I think been left out.

The 3rd And The Mortal – Painting on glass (1996) --- Nightwish is pop compared to this.
Arcturus – The Sham Mirrors (2002) --- evolved black metal, some said bombastic.. it's epic!
Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini (2010) --- three last albums where boring, but now at last... nicely balanced.

Other Norwegian releases that might be of interest..

Anja Garbarek - Smiling & Waving (2001) --- collaborated with Hollis (Talk Talk) and Wyatt (Soft Machine).
Bel Canto - Birds of Passage (1989) --- this release is when people starts to talk about Aurora Borealis.
Bendik Hofseth - Amuse Yourself (1993) --- this jazz record actually was on the pop chart way back.
